Its being held hostage in a game that is unwinnable.
This is especially true in normal matches, where elo doesn't even matter, and you have team A with 2 kills and team B with 30, team A no towers, team B, 9, but for some reason, the people on team A think the game is still winnable without some sort of divine intervention.
Please change surrender vote (at least in norms) to majority rules (3/5)
While I agree it can be quite painful to be held hostage in a game that is practically unwinnable, I do think the 3/5 majority vote would not be good for a few reasons:
Premades. Premades of three, who may have a rough game, or who wish to troll, can easily end the game at the 15/20 minute mark. Lets say that the top laner gets caught out a few times, goes 0/2. Bot lane isn't doing well, combined scored of 2/4. If top and bot lane are premade, and they decide to give up, the game can be over in a split second, even if jungle and mid lane are doing well.
Giving up too easily is another reason. Some games, despite their appearance, are very winnable. Some games are not. However, I've had comebacks where we've been down fifteen kills and the enemy slips up once, and we're given a second shot. It's all about capitalizing and making the best of each game,
Add this to normals.
Do not add it to ranked, I do not desire it to fuel the defeatist attitudes alot of players have these days when in ranked.
You cannot know if you will lose. You can only have a good guess.
Your view is not shared unanimously, or the vote would have passed.
You need to be able to admit when you are wrong, or could be.
Just because you are not having fun in a losing game, doesn't mean someone else cannot be.
Your mentality is your own enemy. Learn to take a loss, and have fun during the process.
Surrender makes you lose 100% Not surrendering doesnt. I won't ever surrender a ranked or winnable match.
No, that's the matchmaking that causes it. You get awful players and they refuse to surrender because they can't accept they lost the game. Then they try to redeem themselves by trying to make a comeback, but they wont ever admit their own mistakes.

But that sounds like all three.. You got matched with idiots, who "flame" by being toxic, and the game is balanced in a way that comebacks are hard, so it's actually hostage.
