I would like to post something about yasuo's ballance
Well we already can say that he is on the lowest tier of champions ,its realy hard to win any lane, and even if you do you dont snowball so even if you go 3/0 you migh get stomped easy once your lane opponent gets one kill.
But it made me wonder why the last of his nerfs hurt him so badly, while the ones we had earlier didnt even scratch the surface. After all it was his hp and ms that got nerfed not his dmg that still remains like the highest in this game, and the main problem.
Well my conclusion is that ysauo's kit suffers from the feast or famine playstyle.
Ill explain the feast or famine playstyle (more or less). The feast or famine playstyle describes a specific way that champion handles his advantage or being behind
- when he is ahead he dominates easily
- when he is behind he is unable to compete Feast or famine playstyle is usualy tied to champion getting loads of power from items while having low base damage, so if this champion snowballs and his itemisation can overshadow enemy's base dmg he always wins, while lack of items causes him to have literaly no power
I checked if yasuo rly has no base dmg (ofc i wont make a thread without actualy confirming)
yasuo has 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 base dmg on his q aided by his ad, his attack speed scalling makes it take almoust the same time as normal auto, so we can smmarize that yasuo gets 20/40/60 dmg on his q (its an empowered auto so i wont count the ad into it, the skill is an addition to your autoatack) and it does not influence his atack speed so muuch (long cast time will make it only a slight increase) he also has his e which deals 70 base dmg at lvl1 (i take only the dmg from lvl1 because you dont add points here till you max your q, and that is at minimun lvl 9 ) and it can be increased to 140 and we have to count his ult because lvl6 to 9 can also be counted as early game which is 200 dmg yet it requuires a knockup, which makes you lucky if you will use it once by yourself, cause jukes, only jungler should be able to make you ult more often
Looking at this its quite safe to assume that yasuo has realy low base dmg (some skills deal more base dmg at lvl1 than his maxed q's base dmg, basicaly all dmg comes from ad and crit), but he has insanely good scalings, and a lot of them.
This explains why yasuo got decimated by the nerf that nobody would ever expect to influence him so hard, as it makes him lose more of early trades or straight out makes trading a stupid choice.
Yasuo relies on extended trades where he circless back and forth to slowly bully the enemy, now most of the enemies will retaliate with blind agression since they outstat him
The actual conclusion of this thread is not whether yasuo is op or not, but that his design is flawed at its core. -If yasuo is given the numbers that allow him to stand up to others early he will get op, since he scales faster and stronger with items allowing him to simply outpower everyone else (i once made a solo quadra with pre nerf yasuo, in the enemy base, thats how he scales, enemies had similar amount of items but half of the power i had from mine) -On the other hand if he cant trade early he wont get his items and will never be able to realy compete his power, others will get their items faster making his power more of an illusion (you scale faster but you gain gold much slower, conns outweight the pro's here).
This is the similar state as kassadin is currently at.
- If kassas will get numbers that allow him to score kills and get that gold he will kill ppl and newer recieve any punishment for putting himself in the middle of the enemy team thanks to his ult. -I kassa cant trade he doesnt get fed and cant realy touch the enemy team . But his case is more about the possibilities of his ult than his scalings
Ofc they can kill but still their early numbers will outweight this other way, so you will come back to lane and see that enemy still hits harder than you despite having less gold
If yasuo has to be fixed from this playstyle (this playstyle is a cancer because most of the game is decided in champion select) he will need a big ingerence into the core of his kit, either his double crit or his e, unfortunately the double crit seems more likely because it cause all of his interactions with items (buff the e and he is back into op state)
if yasuo would get increased penalty for having more critical strikes it could help, but there are problems that his q could become obsolete (there already is a cap of ad that makes critted q deal less dmg than critted autoatack), or that he wouldnt scale with items as intended making him a lackluster crit boy, who doesnt even gain so much from building crit or straight out deals less dmg with his ie crit than other acds with normal crits thou it allows for tinkering with him in other areas, like his shield and cooldows on his q making him rely more on agility than brute infinite burst
TL:DR
- yasuo scales too hard with items to allow him to live in lane, if he can fight in the lane he will straight out dominate cause item worth 4k gold will give him stats worth at least 5k which causes insane snowball mid game with slight gold lead, his currently weak early causes him to get items much slower and negates this strenght (when it comes to gold kills are always worth more than minions in both early and mid game where nobody managed to feed like mad) -yasuos insane scaling with items is dictated by his double crit passive (2x crit for 10% less critdmg and additional 10% less on his q) -to fix the problem of him being gutted just to not dominate the entire game he needs a serious tweak in the core of his kit (either straight out rework making the rest of his kit gate double crit power somehow, or a tweak to his double crit) only whis way we will be able to buff him to viability without making him an insta win (i know that no champion is a real insta win, but yasuo could do realy much)
