Is there a point to trying to learn non-assassin mid lane champs?

Not trying to be negative but it just seems like almost no mid lane champs can hold their own against assassins, except for Ahri and Yasuo, below platinum. I'm trying to expand my champion pool as I can only seem to make Lux work in mid rn but everyone i try gets destroyed by Kat, Talon, Ahri, Yasuo, ect. I know I don't have the best mechanics and such but at the same time it just seems like the lane is lost as soon as those champions are picked. Also, most of the champs I've been trying I tried learning several times in the last 3-5 years but never did I do as bad in lane as I do now. I never liked the assassin and like them even less now as they seem to be so strong that it doesn't seem to matter if they mess up. Do I have to play assassins to go up in ranks now or am I just missing something? P.S. I'm in Silver rn which is why I said below plat.

Ori, Ryze, and Syndra are all pretty good against assassins. Ori has range, poke, and shields, in the form of her ball, Ryze has CC you can't miss, as well as a decent shield from comboing, and Syndra's E is good against assassins jumping on you.

ori and syn ive been trying to relearn lately but ive had no luck against the assassins, Kat and talon specifically. as for ryze ive never been able to play him even pre-rework

Assassins are play makers and are extremely deadly in the right hands but are not overpowered. A lot of people in lower elo(including myself) just make mistakes in lanes and assassins are very good at punishing mistakes.

It is perfectly viable to play Non-Assassins in mid, you just need to play accordingly if you're going against one. 9 times out of 10, a traditional mage isn't going to 1v1 an assassin early game without jungler assist so it is better to bully and farm and set up a moment for a gank to pop them and put them down and then try and snowball your advantage.

In general, I rarely get help from my jg even if i'm pushed under the tower or ask for help so i try not to rely on them anymore. As for trying to bully them, I can only do it on Lux bc her main poke (E) has a decent Aoe for how spam-able it is but I've been trying to learn Syndra lately and I can't land anything on them as her abilities are too telegraphed and easy to dodge without stunning them first. I use to play Ori at the beginning of the season and later end of last season but assassins weren't as strong as they are now excluding kat. Idk if that's why i can't play ori now but it doesnt seem to help.

Attack when they go to farm. You want to force your opponent to pick between taking damage or losing farm.

Orianna's biggest laning power is her passive. Auto with her aggressively. Kite.

You end up building defenses first vs most assassins. Its why they suck to play against.

yeah thats how i play against them but at lvl 2 if i try to do that against talon he will end up winning lane due to the w,q,aa combo. i always build defense against them but against kat and talon specifically mr/ armor don't seem to do anything.

Yes, Talon has high burst at low level that can't be outplayed. I use a rune page with armor marks and scaling HP seals against ad mids, it helps. Some players take exhaust.

I used to use my armor runes against the ad assassins but it never seemed to help. idk why but if im mid i cant get my exhaust on them in time for it to be worth it especially so against zed

I disagree, low elo involves a lot of team fighting which a lot of assasins struggle in.

True but they can easily take advantage of the lack of coordination of the enemy team in team-fights down here. Like I know most of these games i would win if i played better but some of them my team either constantly fights 4v5's, gets caught, or all together plays the fight wrong.

Zilean can stand against any wave clear and can make their roams ineffective. If you ever seen a fed Zilean it's probably the scariest thing xD

i tried him but i failed miserably. i could only land the bombs on minions and if there weren't any well i was pretty useless.

He's one of those champs that takes practice to nail down his lane phase has a few tricks such as the true damage bomb double bomb on low health minion = 1 attack 1's not effected by mmr. And that he can actually throw 2 bombs in the 6 minion wave and hit all 6 if he does it right. Though You can always go tryndamere. yasuo's and zeds worst nightmare

Personally, I don't really see the point in learning assassins in the mid-lane since I find artillery/control mages offer significantly more to their team in general.

Assassins are useful for winning 1v1 fights and snowballing while mages are superior in teamfights and sieges.

Never underestimate the importance of range and safety. While it might be boring to some, utility and safe waveclear/poke are extremely valuable.

This is especially true when you realize that your team will likely be composed of squishy damage-oriented champions in all roles (because everyone has to be the carry).

Play a tank into assassins...it is really funny. I used to always play Naut into Zed. It was close for the first 3-4 levels and then once my armor started stacking up, he was useless.

I've heard of this strategy before but i don't like being that up close and personal in team-fights. Plus tanks can be easy to kite.
