Nocturne - Rework Suggestion

I'm positive Nocturne has been discussed. He is my go to champion since Season 3, i've climbed to Diamond 4 with him.

I Love Noc, but comparing to other Junglers like Elise/Jarvan/Kindred/Yi/Lee, or anybody really, he lacks an Escape. His Jungle clear time is disappointing to put it midly. With Noc you either ahead of the game or you become useless. I believe I found a solution to improving Nocturne's Jungle clear timer and providing him with an Escape.

Many of the champions I've listed above are capable of hopping walls (Yi can if he sees the target over the wall).

My Suggestion is to change Nocturne Q ability:

  • Combine Nocturne's passive with his Q. When Nocturne shoots his Duskblade, whoever been affected by Dusk Tail IF HIT Nocturne Heals off of + every hit cuts down his Q cooldown by 1 second. This applies to Jungle minions as well.
  • While on Dusk Trail, Nocturne is able to move through walls. This change will give you a choice as a player to either use your Q as a tool of combat or escape. Which makes him a healthier assassin.
  • No Change to W/E/R

Q&A:

(1) BUT HOW DO YOU ESCAPE IF HE IS ABLE TO FOLLOW YOU THROUGH WALLS?! Let me answer that with a counter question: How do you escape from them? They are all capable of following you through a wall. Gragas LeeSin Sejuani Elise AurelionSol Graves Ekko Fizz Kindred Khazix Shaco JarvanIV

And these are just SOME of the Jungle wall hopper (Yes, A-Sol is played as jungle as well)

(2) Nocturne is Balanced! Trust me, Nocturne is nowhere near a healthy balanced state. Slow clear, no escape, extremely weak early for an assassin, 4% play Rate.

_(3) Why would Nocturne need to jump through walls if he has his Ultimate? _ Because waiting 2min for a Jump is a little too long, don't you think? (65 with 40% lvl 16 CDR)

What about his Passive? No clue, I'm sure Riot can think of something.

IF YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT NOCTURNE DOES http://gameinfo.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/game-info/champions/nocturne/

Hey that's actually a pretty good idea. The phasing through walls even fits his lore/theme cuz like he's all about the darkness. Maybe as he passes through a wall, he becomes an actual shadow.

Whats funny, is that when I first started playing, I fell in love with nocturne, thematically. His ult and playstyle seemed SO cool to me. But before I had the IP to buy him, I remember reading his ability descriptions, and thinking that this was how his Q worked. I always thought it would make sense for him to be able to chase people through walls and stuff if he'd gotten his Q off on someone, it makes a lot sense thematically I think. You can't escape the darkness ;)

i'm iffy about this, but i don't think it matters since this sounds like a coding nightmare. what happens if the trail runs out when he's in a wall? how do they phase out only the parts of the wall that he trail is under? the reason i believe bard and now sol's "wall ignoring" mechanic works is because they can't control the travel. if you want him to go trhough wall then i would put it on his E that allows him to go through a wall like bards magical journey(but for just him) and fears enemies after a duration in AOE(idk). or he can either fear an enemy or travel through a wall or something

Nocturne is my main. He's 100% fine. Not EVERYONE needs a rework. He contributes to the team while being a good bruiser/off tank. He doesn't need a rework.

Diamond Main and Bronze Main are two different stages. I believe he lacks in several fields in higher elo, while in Bronze ANY, and I mean ANY champion works with ANY build. Trust me, I have fooled around in that elo.

Also, You never play Noc in ranked, So I don't see how your opinion on this matter is valid.

I'm gonna say no. Nocturne shouldn't have an escape because he has one of the absolute best single target initiating abilities in the game, right up there with Rengar's ult. His entire budget is based around the fact that he can gank you from outside your vision area, while also hindering your team's ability to help you. A buff like this would result in massive nerfs elsewhere, and I'm not too thrilled with that.

You already have Safe assassins like Zed/Talon/Elise who have an opportunity to use their kit to all in and then get out. While Noc can go all in but lacks to get out. Problem with Noc is that he is capable of blowing you up if you are alone, but as team fights go, he is absolutely worthless if you are stacked up, While the examples I gave can utilize their kit to play around teams.

These are not even buffs but rather updating his old and outdated kit.

The main difference is, none of them can engage like he can. The closest is Talon, and he would have to give up a lot of damage on his ult to do so. Fact of the matter is, as long as Nocturne has his ult in its current form, you can't give him any changes that would result in a buff without pulling power somewhere else.
