So i think i know why the jungle is not only so exclusive, but also unfun this season.

I was practicing earlier today and somone decided to duo top. I though to myself "alright, im rek'sai, i have pretty damn good clears... and their jungler is resourceless too, they wont be coming for blue until theyve cleared at least two camps. Ive got time to counter jungle them and come back top to turtle"

Nope. Spent 30~45 seconds trying to clear the camp, buff survived with 400 health (about a smite or two).

The jungle is balanced around smite. i didnt realize this before, and its extremely off putting to know that without smite, you cannot clear a just spawned buff camp. Its rather pathetic and unintuitive... Smite is supposed to be a boon; something to make the jungle easier, not an explicit thing absolutely required to clear the jungle. I think riot needs to re-evaluate summoner spells if theyre balancing such a massive portion of the game around a single spell. I understand with this season that jungle items are locked, but that doesnt mean that you shouldnt be able to jungle without them. thats just... silly.

If you feel champions shouldn't need smite to jungle, then play either Nunu or WW. I think that most champions should not have access to a smiteless jungle, as it keeps laners from poaching the camps whenever they don't feel like pushing.

As an old jungler who now midlanes, yeah, this is WAY better.

Thats a player choice to steal jungle camps though. And its the simple fact that smite is 95% required to do anything in the jungle until you have a good bit of AD.

Riot could just as easily have halved the amount of EXP and gold you get from camps without a jungle item. But damage, HP, and armor are all balanced assuming smite; which means that smite is required to jungle at all, and that severely limits any kind of counterplay to the jungler.

Yeah, the stealing players choice. The whole point of the jungle rework was to not only give the jungle back to the jungler, but to make it feel like that dark a scary jungle it rightfully should be. Your solution not only ignores that, it actually hurts the jungler more if a laner decides to steal, as the gold is effectively thrown away. This is the best way to do it.

And as I said, the Jungle can still be done without smite on the right champions. The ones that are so effecient at the first camp that they can easily still perform their jobs.

Besides, as jungler you should bring smite, as you need it to secure the big objectives for your team. Without it you let your team down as a jungler. I understand if you are shoved into the role by a troll, but in a normal setting you should be bringing smite anyways.

It might be silly, but it's the only way to prevent the marksmen from safely farming the jungle from 20~30 min so as to avoid the mid game where they're weak.

Not only does it remove a huge weak zone from the Marksman, but it sucks for the jungler as well!

Yea, even though they only get a portion of the gold, people are still quite happy to poach the jungle.

I havent really felt much of a change in the jungle Still farming, still ganking, still smiting stuff like I've always been less people liking jungle means its more likely to be open for last picks like me

Why wouldn't it be balanced around smite?
