Braum hasnt seen a lot of competetive play lately. Can we buff him?

Now, braum is naturally tanky and is a support. He would fit in very well with the "support team" meta riot seems to be enforcing.

Braum is also in a fine place right now; as a support, hes high-tier (although not top iright now), and id hate to make him overpowered. So what i suggest is helpful towards bringing braum into the top lane OR the jungle.

Lets make the cooldown on his passive scale with attack speed. 1.0 or above attack speed = 10~20% cooldown reduction on passive 2.0 or above attack speed = 20%~40% cooldown reduction on passive

With this, braum wont be a support exclusive - he would have more diversity in both build choice AND role.

Braum's win rate differential is less than +/-0.25. This means he is exactly where he should be.

If he's going to receive a buff, it should be like the one in the OP, that is utterly useless to Braum played "correctly" (since support Braum cannot use it unless he spends less money on support items so he can spend it on AS items instead). It should not be like Tombdragon's buff, which support Braum can use without any downside.

I DID say that braum was already in a fine place :3 He just needs to be able to diversify his potential roles; If i could take braum top, i would. I so would. I love playing braum solo. But you cant take him solo because he has neither burst nor strong enough stick to allow him to get kills during the laning phase.

Ward hopping was a bug, but Riot chose not to remove it because they felt it added complex gameplay. And having specialists is necessary to keep the game healthy and to minimise the occurrence of champions becoming overpowered.

You should never keep characters stagnant. If you were going to hyper specialize, then you should make ALL champions hyper specialized (Which cant happen. It literally cant- Ranged AD champions can go everywhere but the jungle. Melee AD champions are at a severe disadvantage against ranged AD champions everywhere but the jungle)

May I suggest him being able to hop to wards as well? Considering the description of his W, he should able able to do it like Lee or Katarina.

It won't make him super mobile, but would give him a little bit of it.

I think he only needs a small push to be brought back into competetive play. Letting him ward hop would also be a great idea.

LC$BIGPLAYS.

Seriously. Just imagine it.

Braum ward hopping into Baron pit, ulting for the steal and acing the enemy team. 100% flashier than Lee Sin. That shit would look cool.

Ward hopping was added unintentionally to the game, and wouldn't fit the theme of his W anyways. Trying to make a support playable in other lanes though shouldn't be the focus to make him playable.

To be perfectly honest, we shouldnt have hyper specialized champions to begin with. Everyone deserves diversity. And if ward hopping was unintentional, wouldnt that make it bug abuse? :P

Report Rito for exploit.

It would be really, really, really funny if for the next season of worlds, riot banned every professional player that has ever ward hopped to escape or get a kill. As a joke, of course.

funny cuz hyper specialized would actually make things more diverse...

you know whats just OP? when you put together a team full of people who can do everything

you know whats would be diverse? when you have a team of champions all specializing in unique niche roles

greater emphasis on team work and team comp less so on picking reliable, safe, do everything champs and having carries all over the place

You know why that doesnt work? Because then burst damage dictates the meta, and you, again, stagnate because the same 20 champions will be chosen over and over again.

What i suggest does "make braum do everything". He wouldnt be a jack of trades like nidalee or lee sin, he would have a slightly more viable top lane (And possibly jungler if he goes devourer.... lol). It would increase his position diversity from ONE to TWO.

And actually, teams who can respond to strengths and weaknesses tend to succeed more than others. Braum being capable of going top lane or supporting would increase his worth a great deal.

{quoted}

I think this could be subjective I mean if a team is a compilation of niche champs... I think that would increase the diversity for the different kinds of combinations

on the other hand if you had a buncha champions that could do fuqing everything... LeeSin Nidalee great, thats a .. other sort of diversity too I guess.. being able to choose from top nid, mid nid, support nid, jungle nid

Yeah... theres a huge difference between being capable of suceeding in two positions, and being strong in every position. I had a game as lee a few days ago where i: Started top Counterjungled Supported from 1025 minutes Mid'ed for 2634 minutes Went back to top lane Counter jungled Split pushed to victory

It was crazy that lee is capable of playing EVERY ROLE in a single game.

"Safeguard" doesn't either, and Braum's W works in a similar fashion, so it'd be only fair. :/

I hear jungle Braum can work, and I think this could help a little bit :(((((

Safeguard was where the bug was found anyways, and Riot felt it added more complex gameplay, so they chose not to remove it.

Also, having Braum as a jungler would not help anything. He was intended as a support, and I feel that he should be stronger in the role that he was designed for. I don't know why anyone would want him to be buffed to be specifically played in the jungle, and not as the role that all of his abilities were designed for.

Can Twisted Fate or Shaco get a buff? They haven't seen a lot of competitive play =(

TF and shaco are fine as they are. TF can top, bot, or mid reliably. Shaco can top, jungle, or roam reliably.

Braum can support. Just... he can JUST support.

Braum's entire kit is designed around team play - protecting teammates and stunning to set them up. I don't think any buffs for him should be designed around getting him out of bot lane and into a solo scenario; it just doesn't fit him. Even as tanky as he is, having only 1 damaging ability (2, sorta, if you count the passive damage) means that he just isn't a viable top laner. I'd be slightly more open to him jungling (although I think he'd get the Ali treatment), but in the end scaling him off his AS just doesn't make sense for him. There is no reason for him to build attack speed. In a teamfight he relies on his teammates to proc his passive; even solo, he doesn't really need more AS just to get his stuns out. It would slightly increase his DPS on his passive stun damage but even then not noteworthy.

You obviously never heard of the reason why they nerfed Jungle Alistar, repeated Lulu nerfs, & Soraka rework.

Yeah? you know the problem with those? they over shadowed their intended role.

Being ABLE to go somewhere else and ONLY being able to go somewhere are two different things. Lulu can still do her job as a support, and still works as a top. Alistar can still support and top (jungle alistar is more or less odne though) And soraka... her solo lane was actually unhealthy; it was extremely non interactive.

Do you know why braum has a hard time solo laning? Its not really lack of damage - hydra+wits end+zephyr is all the offensive stats you need, and zephyr is only for split pushing - Its lack of stick. Solo lane braum doesnt stick nearly well enough to end a fight and get the kill. Even at early levels, where braums damage should be much higher than his opponents, due to cooldowns he cant keep up at all with regular top laners. Even mundo escapes early braum. The buff i propose gives solo lane braum the stick he needs to succeed towards the mid game, thus granting him much more diversity (It would also make his jungle... better. Jungle braum shouldnt be a thing though. he has the same problem as bard, IMO).

I don't think every champion needs buffs just because they're not in the competitive scene anymore. The meta says absolutely nothing about the champion's balance and more about what the popular picks are and what the popular counter picks are. Lissandra blasted into the meta scene when the mana nerfs hit(way to go free spell passive Liss!) coupled with the fact that she's one of the desperately few remaining targeted hard CC champs that combat the mobility threats of LeBlanc and Zed. Sejuani blew into the scene when Cinderhulk became a thing, and so on and so on. So none of the champions that once occupied the spotlight have become unviable or bad, they're just not picks or counter picks anymore due to the change in the meta. So that's why Braum doesn't need any buffs. When they start senselessly buffing, champions end up getting too powerful and wind up getting slapped with more nerfs than the initial buffs they received.

That's exactly where RIOT fails at balancing. You don't have to balance based on "this champion is seeing/not seeing competitive play now".

Why dont you read the actual post, instead of just the title columbo?

Did you read the actual post, and not just the title? the actual suggestion just gives braum more potential role diversity. with the suggested buff, braum support would NOT get a buff but solo-lane braum WOULD. its not a buff meant to bring him back into competetive play, its a buff to diversify him and move him out of "one trick pony" status.
