A simple proposal for a CoC change.

So, riot nerfed CoC. That was expected and warranted, the amount of shield it gave was massive and made fighting impossible.

But there is still a problem with the mastery, which is that the champions that have aoe hard cc are rewarded with the same shield for hitting 5 enemies as they are for 1 enemy (*Edit: in a 5v5 fight). This also allows champions with single target hard cc to make the same use of the mastery that those champions who only hit one champion with their hard cc. ADDITIONALY the shield gained form hitting only one enemy is actually MORE EFFECTIVE than hitting 5 enemies because over the duration of the cc they cannot damage you, thus punishing proper use of the mastery.

That is the reasoning behind my proposal. I would decrease the shield value to 4% per enemy champion nearby, and decrease its base duration by 1 second, but for every enemy champion you hit with hard cc over the shield's duration increases the total duration by 1 second.

This SHOULD incentivize hitting as many enemies as possible over its duration so you can keep the shield up for a full 8 seconds and get the most value out of it.

There are some forseeable problems with this: 1: champions without aoe hard cc may not be able to use the shield as effectively as those with it. 2: The shield may provide too much defence when used optimally. 3: Losing out on shield value at the expense of hitting more champions with the shield may be worth it. And probably several more than I had initially thought of, that I'm sure someone will tell me about.

But for a mastery that is meant for divers and tanks, it doesn't seem to reward doing your job in the correct way.

"Same shield granted for hitting one or five champions"

No. Procing it in a 1v1 is actually weaker than procing it in a 5v5. If anything they just need to better define the range of nearby champions.

No see, hitting 1 champion in a 5v5 is more effective for the shield than hitting 5 champions in a 5v5 because the 4 champs you didn't hit can damage you and make the shield worthwhile but hitting 5 makes the shield basically useless for the duration of the cc.

Hitting a 5 man full charge sion q is awesome, and you expect the mastery to reward you for hitting it, but you only get a shield for an effective 1.75 seconds because the enemy is cc'd for the first 2.25 seconds of its duration.

Ok. I assumed you stated that it gives the same power in a 1v1 as it does a 5v5.
