My Case for why Guinsoo's Rageblade needs to be removed rather than nerfed

Fundamentally, Guinsoo's is a "cool" item and fun in theory. It is hybrid, easy to build, and encourages a long trade playstyle. Cool, that is unique.

In it's current state it gives a butt ton of stats for very little gold. Attack Speed, AP, and AD that scales to really high amounts for being in long trades.

Guinsoo's has always done this, but before it was NEVER used. Now that its buffed, it is being picked up by just about anyone who can abuse it even slightly.

This item I feel is not going to be able to be balanced. You can't. if you give it great stats for scaling in long trades, then it will be bought by everyone. If the stats just aren't worth it, it will never be bough except maybe by niche users occasionally. (Jax/Kayle could buy it before, it just wasn't the best item)

I feel Guinsoo's just needs to be removed altogether. I'm not entirely sure as to what would replace it, but I'm sure Riot can figure out another new hybrid item that suits the champs who were going to use rageblade.

Maybe an item that amplifies another aspect of a champion when they auto attack X amount of times. It can give raw AP/AD. and then after being in battle for X amount of attacks or time it can then go into its passive that maybe increases ability damage slightly?

maybe not the best example or idea, but rage blade is just a state mounting beast that will never be able to be balanced in my opinion. It just means the longer you are in battle the stronger you are going to be and if your opponent didn't buy the item, your item is going to be more efficient unless they can blow you up VERY fast.

it is overall an unhealthy design.

well its very simple to explain. the old guinsoos stacked up same as now but it didnt give excess power at full stacks. it gave power when low hp which is simply a mechanic that doesnt help champs who build guinsoos in the first place so it was useless.

now it stacks twice as fast and the passive is very good for auto-attackers who are the only class of champions to buy this item anyways

so what it would need is 1. a longer stacking time, 2. a "stronger" bonus for being fully stacked and 3. some sort of defensive mechanism that doesnt benefit from getting fully stacked at minions.

for example: you need to stacks and you only gain stacks from auto attacks and single-target spells and you only gain 1 stack each and once you reach full stacks, you gain a shield that scales off of bonus ap+ad and is increased by the amount of bonus AS you have.

like you gain +2 ad, +3 ap and +6% AS so with guinsoo at 10 stacks you have +50 ad, +70 ap and +60% attackspeed which makes you have 120+60% = 192 shield strength without cooldown that lasts 3 (or maybe 5) seconds. also while the shield is active, you could have some other bonuses like the total AD and AP from this item get doubled so for a maximum of 5 seconds, this item gives 100 ad and 140 ap so if you get a really good trade off, or a nice all-in, you can be very scary but if your shield gets baited out, bursted or you get kited during its duration then this item is much weaker than it is now. not very much but if you buy other items, it can stack up to really high amounts but it ONLY activates once you reach 10 stacks so there is some options to build extremely high damage and are very tanky due to the shield BUT it requires skilled use and to get it again, you need to let your stacks decay.

overall, you make it into an item that requires SKILL to use but is VERY STRONG if used properly.
