Is karthus even viable anymore?

He does an AMAZING amount of damage. However if you are equally skilled as the assassin you are playing against, they are going to have the upper hand. His kit is very out dated. So as long as you don't pick him into an assassin he's really good. If you do pick him into an assassin, you better out play him hard.

i thought that karthus was some of the best late game mages if I die, i'm taking everyone with me

I dish out a ton of AoE damage and is literally trying to die popping yo banshees and zhonyas but if you focus and kill me I'm just gonna ult and this may either win the game for my team or lock things into a stale mate where everyone of the rift is pretty much dead lol

He scales well into the late game, but the game focuses on mid-game powerspikes really hard right now.

He's not totally unviable, just not ideal.

Well he make lack an escape and mobility like most top tier picks, but at least he can still do damage after he dies right? Lol Idk i suck with karthus but when i see a good karthus its usually a win. haha

well the meta really loves mobile champs... or poke heavy champs but and its a big but.. if u are good with the champion and play against every match up there is always a way to win.. even if winning is just goin even. just depends on howmuch u play him. if ur good enough with said champ u can play them in any meta. also check out saints guide on jungler karthus.. he thinks he is the strongest ap jungelr in game atm. so maybe that is a route u can go.

He's viable for your soloq games, if that's what you were asking.

ATM, he is regular. He offers lane control and global presense at the cost of mobility and no hard CC. I think he is going to be viable once that new item is added.

Yeah, he's viable. His ult and passive will ALWAYS make him viable as far as I'm concerned. I've been playing him a bit in soloQ, and it's been going pretty well. I think I've only lost one with him? Karthus still does a TON of damage, and his ability to zone/control is insane.

He definitely has his weakness, though.

VERY viable

Karthus has been pushed out of the meta, by nerfs, and this mobile mid assassin junk meta. For Karthus to be a part of this mid lane he would need more MS, Wall of pain buffed, and more damage on Defile. IMO IF a Assassin all ins Karthus Defile should be a effective punishment / determent.

I wish Riot would reverse these nerfs: Defile Ability power ratio reduced to 0.2 from 0.25. (should be buffed to .35)

Wall of Pain No longer reduces armor. Magic resist reduction changed to 15% from a flat 15/20/25/30/35. Duration reduced to 5 from 7 seconds.
