Why do people not use viktor more?

With the rework his passive is so good you DON'T want to sell it. Late game it's mana that you need and 120 ap which is like a rabadon without 30% ap. You don't even need mana items just go full ap and you'll be so good.

Because he's harder to play than Orianna and Syndra.

the hex core grants 168 ap at level 18 (60 ap base + 6 per level x 18 levels = 60+108 = 168).

The big issue with the new Viktor I see is his range.

Most of his damage comes out of his q and e, and both don't have very large range any more. They do hit very hard however, but he's not as safe as other champions such as Syndra or Xerath.

Because his PASSIVE costs 4000 gold. Fuck that.

*3000 Gold. And you're not guilted into buying it if you can use other things better. In fact, it's better suited as a mid-to-late-game purchase.

I played viktor pre-change and still do post-change.

Viktor is a fun champion. Pre-change he had very long cooldowns, but was pretty strong lane wise with only having 2 damage abilities (without ult)

What has killed viktor in the past is he had no reliable cc, and was a long range poke champion. This means anyone with mobility can avoid not only his damage, but also his CC. Most champions who play mid are assassins, therefor strong mobility. On the other hand, he is semi long range, but other long range mages like ziggs and xerath out range him, making him less effective in most comps.

Todays Viktor I like. I feel like they transfered more power onto his Q, balancing his kit out more and giving him reliable damage with being able to use skill to apply more. Due to augments upgrades, he has more utility, (speed and pull) aswell as makes the hextech core a viable buy depending on the time of game and how ahead you are. (Core prepatch you'd buy 100% your first/second back)

Hes a fun mage and if you want tips or tricks, pm me, always open to help people with new champions. :)

I play him heaps. He feels less powerful early on since the rework, though. Alot of the people he used to counter (Fizz and Vlad being good examples) can now outburst him during early lane. That was especially painful for me to deal with.

He scales hard. Really REALLY hard. But that reliance on his autoattack makes his late-game combo potential less effective, overall. There is a reason lich bane wasn't core on old Viktor, after all - he didn't have his Q damage split up. :P

It's weird. I LIKE Viktor more, now. But he feels less satisfying. It's really weird.

Because he doesn't have noob gaploser?

For soloQ? he's too team reliant and his damage and influence isn't as noticeable as other mid lane carries.

For competitive, just wait till the 2015 season.

I think is damage is amazing. He's one of the better control mid-laners and he can be really hard to deal with when he is fed. He's really best with a good team just like most champs though lol.

I feel that the biggest reason that people don't play Viktor is that he is very difficult to play, as his Death Ray can be very hard to aim properly without enough practice. I personally had some problems using it when I first started to play Viktor.

Another reason I think people don't play Viktor is that they see him having a guaranteed item, and they may be turned off by the item slot they lose, even though the stats of the item are otherwise unfair for their cost.

His passive item is incredibly expensive to upgrade, and I find his Q is tough to coordinate, almost to the point where it feels buggy. You're not able to Q->auto in rapid succession, which ruins his pacing for me. Plus, it's tricky to aim ult while ALSO fighting. You need to mash R and aim it with right click, while you're also using and aiming other abilities. It's like Draven's axes, but times two.

He's really strong, just annoying to play. Q could use some kind of visual/QoL update.

Honestly i feel he was gutted, the reason they did a rework is because most people didnt know how to play him. I was doing just fine in platinum in LAN server with him doing more damage then any other mid. Now he is horrible no sustained damage, cant melt anyone is harder to play...wish they would revert the changes.

Because champs only become popular after a pro plays them in competitive.

Its the sad truth. NA is full of sheep.

Because he isn't fun. Also he's worse than Orianna, the only mage allowed to be good for whatever reason.

I have played Viktor in about 100 games in total, which is a lot considering I have played maybe 500 games in my lifetime.

I can say that post update Viktor does feel a little different from new Viktor, but I feel it was a step in the right direction. I was originally opposed to the update, but I have learned to love the new Viktor too.

I was originally opposed to the Q damage change, since it seemed that it would be pointless to level up first, since it's main damage scaled with viktor's level and not the spell's level, some thing that is pretty unique to Viktor, as most champions scaling abilites are passives. This allows Viktor to focus on leveling E while his Q damage still retaines offensive power. Leveling Q first will now be more of a defensive option, as it will increase your shield amount.

The E change I was also opposed to first, but I like the new one too. I used to be able to clear enemy minion waves as they were walking into lane and the old DoT would kill the minions, but now I can't do that since they will walk out of the new E's explosion zone. Now I have to wait until the minions stop walking so I can keep them in the double blast and kill them. While this was an annoyance to me, it was an okay shift of power for me since now the E did more damage, and there is less of a chance for minions to steal CS on very low hp minions that are about to be killed by the DoT. The second explosion is also good at catching enemy champs in the jungle. Now I won't have to burn Ignite, wondering if I didn't need to, if the DoT was enough. Now the Damage on the E is more instant, a trade off for the Q now being the sustained damage.

I like to rush a E augment first so I can get my wave clear asap. Sometimes if I get it too early, I don't have enough AP to clear the wave even with the Augment, but one more AP item should bump the damage enough for it to one shot.

I recently started playing Viktor, so I don't have any input as to the old Viktor.

What I do know is the current Viktor is a scaling beast. Early game fighting can be tricky, but you can kind of bypass that by just using your wave clear to shove minions to your opponents tower, which makes them use spells to clear waves, and not to kill you.

Once you have ramped up some power I swear all you need to do to win team fights is drag your ult and E through the enemy team and bam you just did about half the opposing teams health. Blast one of the lower health squishes with Q you get a kill. Drop gravity field as this is happening at your feet and its GG.

I honestly find his beam incredibly awkward to aim, that alone makes me not want to play him.

He's really strong atm. People just won't bother picking him up unless he becomes FOTM or a pro starts using him.

Sadly tis the case with many a champion...

from my limited experience with both post and pre rework, i would have to say mobility is a factor. if the enemy jungler is someone who can jump on your face, it's unlikely that you'll be able to stun them before they kill you if the enemy mid is in lane to help. i feel like vikto is forced to stay in lane until he gets 1000 gold otherwise he loses huge damage and waveclear potential (augmented E is usually 100-0s caster minions). only having 2 damaging abilities other than his ult might also turn some people away. if you can't land the lazor, you lose damage, if you can't get into range to Q auto, you lose damage. his only mobility relies on spending 2000 gold (not including boots) and getting a Q to land. i like Viktor and it's pretty fun landing lazors and melting faces, but in the League of Mobility he is kind of pushed to the side.

I tried him out for the first time since he was on free week. My first impressions:

  1. DAT DAMAGE. One or two completed items and you're just taking chunks of health off of opponents.
  2. His laser is damn difficult to get used to aiming. It's a skillshot that takes a good lump of skill to use.
  3. Even taking into account the MS boost on his Q, Vic is one immobile bastard. The League of Mobility eats immobile bastards alive.
  4. His passive is strong, but I have to spend precious gold on the thing. Couldn't it have a stack system to upgrade with instead?
  5. His ult has amazing initial burst, but the sustained effects feel so weak it's almost not worth microing the thing around. It's almost like an Annie ult, but you can micro Tibbers to body block a skillshot or tank tower. Vic's ult can't do any of that, and doesn't last as long as Tibbers either.

Honestly I'm surprised as well, he does INSANE damage. I got him in an ARAM a few days back, and around mid game I absolutely deleted any squishy with a q-aa-e combo (lich bane helped) I'm honestly considering buying him next. I just don't really like his ult, not entirely sure how to use it! XD Big fan of his new q and e though.

It is the same reason pre-rework and the answer why hes rework was a failure.

The thing is, he is an immobile as fuck champion with mediocre range and a situational cc.

Basicly like an AP version of darius.

And the reason why he will most likely won't see any competitive play.
