Gravious wounds are what Graves got when he lost his cigar

Vistha Kai4 votes

So it was Morello whom was responsible for removing his cigar? It all makes sense now!

Graves cam have a grievous wound but graves cant have a cigar quinn cant have blind

Thorn and Mortal Reminder should both be able to apply Grievous Wounds as an active.

Making it a passive on either strikes me as a bad idea since you can't play around it.

Oh no an ADC hit me from 550+ range and now my healing is now garbage. Muh counterplay.

Oh no, tank built an item and suddenly i can't even touch him without dying, so much counterplay and interactive play.

why should you hit a tank?

Because that's what AD carries do.

Well Executioners calling gives ADCs the ability to apply Grievous woulds just by Attacking. So it's probably just as hard to play around.

For Executioners calling, I think they should reduce the Duration. (at least by half.) At least that way. ADC's would actually have to keep attacking to make it work.

xFrostKnightx2 votes

Reducing the duration (helpful) won't change the fact when they engage you, it will always be up. An active would be perfect or even put a condition like like Warmogs passive so there's a trade off, that way Mortal reminder isn't better than Lord Dominik's Regards in every single way.

item 3075 - This baby here is pointless to use already with just Blood thirster. Once all the Lifesteal hit's Live, this guy will be even more useless.

Cloud Potato1 votes

Thornmail never countered Lifesteal. It does its damage regardless of how much Lifesteal the attacker has.

sigh

Unique: Reflects 15% of the physical damage taken (+ 25% bonus armor) from basic attacks and on-hit effects back to its source as magic damage (Calculated before any resistances or reductions are taken into account).

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Life_steal

Life steal is calculated from the actual damage done to an enemy, after armor and all other forms of damage reduction.

The short of what is stated above. Thornmail calculates it's damage based upon your damage pre-mitigation. Life steal is calculated post-mitigation. It is possible to build more life steal than Thornmail can damage, but that would require picking up at least two if not three life steal items.

xFrostKnightx2 votes
  1. Lifesteal is on a lot more items now.
  2. MR on AD items is very cost effective now
  3. New passives which do bonus damage, so thornmail cannot reflect that.
  4. New passives which reduce incoming damage by 12% and put 20% into bleed.
Kuroi861 votes

Bork, BT, Hydra, Death's Dance, Gunblade, Rageblade... Not really, same number as before. Oh wait, you mean maw and merc. Hm, I'd have to see if the MR on Maw plus BT is enough to out heal the damage, we'll see.

Bonus damage thornmail doesn't reflect? From where?

Also, you're pointing out that by counter building Thornmail, you claim that proves Thornmail is bad. It's not. If you have to build to counter an item, that means it's actually having an impact which goes against your argument. Do I think Thornmail should be better, of course. But my point still stands.

item 3075 This baby here is pointless to use already with just Blood thirster.

This is an incorrect statement. It takes more than just BT to over heal the damage on Thornmail.

I was kind of surprised that they didn't put the same limitation on Executioner's Calling that they did on item 3165 - the GW only kicks in on targets below a certain % of health.

i think they should do it

Sona Ping1 votes

He's right; they are not equivalent scenarios.

For Executioner's Calling, Grievous Wounds are applied to the target the Champion is attacking. That usually would mean the one champion they are in combat with. While for Thornmail, a Grievous Wounds passive would be applied to all attackers. Built on a tank, that very well could be the entire enemy team.

Thornmail was meant to counter ADCs from Lifestealing back up over everything, so it should have it as a passive.

But with the current passive, that'd just be broken all over again.

Seeing as when this Marksman patch goes through, I am pretty sure it may have to be to counter them.

Seeing how good they are making adcs and how stupidly OP they are going to be (Easy to get 100% crit, you think lifesteal is bad now? It can reach 40-50% in that patch, so enjoy getting hit for 800s while they heal 400 every half second) If they don't put in counters, it will literally be 5 adc team comps

junglerboy162 votes

At the very least, Mortal reminder should only apply grievous wounds at half strength since it applies no matter what, where Morellonomicon applies it full strength but only below half health.

fiddle's getting closer and closer to sej

At least Sej can clear the jungle early and tank some damage and give out some CC. Fiddles can't really clear well, has a lame fear, and his only strat is to jump in all YOLO style and Zhonya's before he gets too fucked.

OMFG WTF?? seriously fiddle barely loses his life in the jungle, his w sustain is too good... sej on the other hand NEEDS the ranger trailblazer

I can make do without it on Sej.

i'll try learn that

He also lost mana potions (HP potions usually weren't all that needed on Fiddle with his sustain)

I think Grievous Wounds should be an active rather than a flat out passive 50% reduce healing for 5s, because I auto attack you?? That doesn't sound too balanced at all lmao

something called "thornmail" should have grevious wounds after 3 consecutive attacks on them. (cause thorns hurt ya know?)

but yeah im glad this is back for AD's

tired of being in a heal heavy enemy and our AP refuse to get a morellos.

I feel Grievous wounds shouldnt be a game mechanic added to "Hit me and you get punished" items

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

It would atleast make it a viable option to buy since right now there is absolutely no reason to buy it over Randuin's if you want to screw over the ADC since ALL of them are buying crit over AS. Current Thornmail literally only does significant damage to fast AS wet noodle champs such as Kallista and Master Yi whereas Randuins now hits every adc for 10% reduced damage and gives you cc and health.

Secretlolz1 votes

I see your point but It would probably feel bad to accidentaly hit someone wearing Thornmail and have your healing gutted. It would be nice to see a new mechanic that punished you further for continue hitting the Thornmail wearer...

Thornmail - All basic attacks you recieve reflect X% of the damage done and cause Backlash. Backlash: All healing recieved is reduced by 15% for 3 seconds. Stacks up to 6 times.

Champion Skin1 votes

Thornmail is also kind of good for champions like Rammus who has an armor steroid in his kit

Though yeah Randuins give a lot more durability given that if the enemy ADC crit about every hit then it reduce the damage per hit by 10% and the amount of hits by 15%

So if we make it easy with an ADC who has 100 AD 100% crit and 1.0 AS Without Randuins effects 100(AD) X 2 (crit) X 1 (AS) = 200 DPS (before armor) With Randuins effects 100(AD) X 1.8 (Crit) X 0.85 (AS) = 153 DPS (before armor)

200 --> 153 is a reduction in DPS by 23.5% that's the best case scenario with 100% crit in the worst case scenario with 0% crit Randuins will reduce AA DPS by 15% with the AS slow

Samflash31 votes

But if you buy Morellonomicon, it works on all magic damage. So Thornmail, Sunfire cape, and even Arcane blade (if the mastery still exists) will work.

Grievous wounds is only 30% healing reduction now guys. Chillax.

Krinu3 votes

It's still going to break pretty much every champion that relies on sustain.

Paletongue1 votes

I think I read somewhere that it only applies to self heals as well, so its used against things likeDrMundo Swain, while champs like Soraka Namistill have their heals unaffected.

Krinu1 votes

As far as I can tell, the only change listed so far is a reduction from 50% to 40%.

Paletongue1 votes

You'll note that I was the one that asked the question on twitter a couple days ago... and that this post is five days old...

BottleCapster1 votes

They've lowered the effectiveness of GW by 10% because of how having easy access to more effective GW application methods can seriously fuck over sustain champions. If they made it only apply to self-heals, then GW as a whole would be unintuitive and would barely serve to scratch the barrel of how healing is given out.

Grievous Wounds. Like grieving. That thing Kalista players are doing right now when they realize their AS item, Runaan's, is losing a lot of AS and ADC items are becoming more crit-based while her AA's do 10% less damage.

Champion Skin1 votes

Yeah Kalista works best with AS as her auto attacks have high base damage (if you count her base AD + base damage on rend) Also she doesn't scale that badly with AD as each of her auto attacks kind of deal 150% AD (If she procs all of the rend stacks)

Zair Umbras1 votes

That's with AD. Runaan's got an AS nerf, BT got a slight AD nerf, BotRK is more expensive and lost 2% current, there's no zephyr.... I mean, she's got almost nothing left really, lol.

BottleCapster1 votes

Kalista is also getting an early nerf to her passive this upcoming patch due to changes in how her passive scales. She no longer dashes based on boot tier, but by her AS, so double-bummer i suppose.
