Grievous wounds is a situational stat for AD champions - why not for AP champions?

I know, you've probably heard this hundreds of times this year. But why does grievous wounds come built-in to one of the primary UNIVERSAL core items for all mages in the game?

Why is this always a great item no matter the enemy team comp, when mortal reminder can make or break the game for AD champions? Why is it that you often see multiple players on a team pick this item even when not a single player on the enemy team has any form of healing or regeneration? It breaks a LOT of champions and item builds, and most of the time it's completely unintended from the mage players. Magic damage is already an endlessly much stronger stat than physical damage, why do mages get free grievous wounds on top of the Infinity edge-level AP and black cleaver-level health?

Because their itemization has no diversity. Even marksman have more variety in their builds than they do.

All of their items give them huge AP, CDR and utility. All of them follow this line.

And since CDR is OP af it gets prioritized.

This. I build for the AP flat pen grievous wounds item every game no matter what. Even if the enemy team has no healing whatsoever I still build it.

Having an AP item with flat pen (to burst squishies) and also grievous wounds (to lower healing in sustained fights) seems like it should be 2 different item choices.

At least with the AD item it's situational and I only sometimes build it depending if its needed.

To be honest, Grievous Wounds is so essential these days that I'm pissed it takes 3000 gold to get it on an AP champion. I'd like to have it on Nami by level 7 or so, but the only way to do it is with Executioner's Calling.

I rarely buy Morello's, btw. Only when my AD teammates refuse to buy it or if it is fitting to the character. The item is highly overrated and costs vastly more than an 800g Executioner's Blade. Also, certain champions come with built-in, improved versions of Grievous Wounds and everyone can bring Ignite.

This complaint makes zero sense.

Also, you are highly limited as an AP champion as to what you can build. There is almost no customization, no options that matter. On the other hand, AD items come in tons of various forms and can do far more things on the whole.

Magic damage is already an endlessly much stronger stat than physical damage,

Wat. Based on what exactly? Post game stats on who dealt the most damage?

MR is a weak stat overall, there's not enough MR items or enough MR on existing items.

We have armor items that go up to 100. 125 if you have an Ornn on your team.

Mr weak? In which world? Because in this world one mr item is more than enough to shut down a mage until he buys void. Magic damage, because it is usually bound in spells and said spells have cds, usually gets countered by hp. Yes mr is only 55 max. However this 55 is enhanced by the hp that they also come with. Once a xerath uses his kit, he wont be able to reuse it for a while aka for a while he is harmless.

Executioner's calling only costs 800. Buy it instead of a blasting wand on your way to morellos, if you have to. Simple solution.

I mean... GWs are so essential these days pretty much ANY AP-Item having them would become core.
