The reason why have MF support and not Nasus is because AP has a powerspike when he gets luden echo, his poke with MF will surely poke bottom lane out.
Nasus E has armor reduction meaning it can help MF setup her Ult for some serious damage.
If you get lane control nasus can stack his Q and sustain himself in lane by zooning the enemie with MF E and Nasus E.

A friend of mine and I used to run Lux (carry) and Maokai (support). The amount of CC/peel was crazy. I usually have 5 or more kills before I even had my ult.
