like, i understand the want to modernize but this has so little impact on anything tbh. knowing the game i would assume removing it would end up causing more problems then just leaving it there.

Because they want to. Thats why. They feel the need to “modernize” everything, and the old cursor isn't modern enough for them. Look at their logo.
