PSA: DO NOT use the "none" option when choosing your bans.

FOR JUSTICE··101 votes·6,150 views

its seriously just a waste of a potential cancer champ that could be banned. if you really cant decide on who to ban (or just don't wanna), just donate it to a teammate, make their lives a bit easier.

gotta question why this is an option in the first place though.

it's weird how these people never have an actual, logical, justified reason for this.

If theres no one you feel you need to ban because you feel the bans are already sufficient, and dont want to limit your potential play and counter pick pool, none is a good option.

Hibeki11 votes

Last time i checked intentionally being a liability for your team was called inting.

Pika Fox12 votes

Last i checked, not banning someone isnt being a liability to your team. Not knowing how to play against champions, however, is, so if you need to ban a champ in order to play, youre the liability.

Hibeki14 votes

Yeah no, your team was given 5 bans to use as a resource. You are choosing not to use a resource that only benefits your team, therefore you are a liability.

This game is not about you. There are 4 other players on your team. I dont give a fuck if youre fine playing against everyone, you use that ban for me.

And if you choose none, you better not fuckin int, cause you coulda just BANNED THAT LANER

Pika Fox7 votes

Given 5 bans with the option to not use. My ban is my ban, if i opt not to use it i opt not to use it. I dont "need" to use it for anyone, its useable at my sole discretion, not yours. Try and tell me otherwise just leads to a mute.

This is also a team game, and if you're as much a team player as a 6 year old("this is muh toy, I don't care that I never play it anymore, nobody else should play it. THIS IS MUH TOY"), then what the fuck are you doing here?

I mean if you're not willing to give your teammates something which is of absolutely no use to you, that's not even a bad or a terrible teammate, that's downright a god awful teammate, why play a team game then?(serious question)

Pika Fox3 votes

Me opting to choose none has nothing to do with the team. My role pick and my gameplay does. I dont have the time nor the cares to bother figuring out what my team wants me to ban. Half the time its some FotM, and not worth my time. If you cant be bothered to learn how to play against an fotm, i cant be bothered to ban it.

Hell, Zoe had a high ban rate, but was never good, upon release.

y0r1ck5 votes

Yea... not worth your time. The 30 seconds it takes to figure out what your team wants banned. When you're playing a half hour long game. [zombie-brand-facepalm]

you wont limit your play pool because again you would be COMMUNICATING with your teammates

Pika Fox7 votes

No, youd still be limiting your potential play pool. Theres no "op or cancer" champs in the entire game unless youre playing at pro level in a tournament. Theres literally 0 absolute need to ban. Banning exists to try and limit potential counters to your main strategy. If you feel thats already been met, and dont want to limit your own future options or things for the opponent to pick that you play well into, then none is a good option.

so i take you you are also the kinda person who will pick any champ in ranked even though they have absolutely zero idea how to play ti because it "counters" the other guy.

and even if you were the person who has mastery 7 on every singlke champ in the game and over 50 games on each... a person who could likterally play anything.

you would still be choosing not to ban a champsion that would give your teammates trouble based on their picks.

so either your an moron or an asshole.

if u dont even ASK who your teammates want banned. you are an absolute jerk. who is going out of you way to make life harder for your teammates.

I also have the right to go into the street and scream various racial slurs at the top of my lungs. that doesn't mean I should do it.

Terozu7 votes

Yes but thats rude and hurtful.

Not banning is the opposite you are accepting all champs.

BoilTheOil22 votes

its rude and hurtful when varus isn't banned and hes doing half of my health in a millisecond while im snared

Crede7774 votes

If you live in the United States then you actually don't. Racial slurs (hate speech) is not protected speech under the First Amendment. Failing that, it's a disturbance of the peace.

dome0254 votes

Actually in most civilized you don´t have the right to do that, while you have the right to choose the "ban none" option (otherwise it wouldn´t exist).

gabetheguy I also have the right to go into the street and scream various racial slurs at the top of my lungs. that doesn't mean I should do it.

Others can sue you for racism/insulting and disturbance of peace (not sure if those are the correct terms since english isn´t my mother language). However since the US isn´t a civilized country you might be able to do that without fearing a punishment. Don´t know the laws there.

Snowman Arc3 votes

And OP is asking, why is it there as an option.

Votable Jester2 votes

Well the reason (at least in norms) could be you wanting to get used to going against as many champs as possible.

I always ban someone though (usually Fizz)

I guess it's because bans don't really feel all that impactful. Ban Zed, they pick Fizz/Kat. There will always be a few other champions you hate just as much as the one you banned. (except maybe Zoe at her peak)

koshkyra22 votes

Idk it makes no sense, the "none" option existing is basically just a "put your team at a slight disadvantage for free" button

Idk why you were downvoted, this is exactly it.

realDRdeal3 votes

Probably because it doesn't cause a disadvantage in regular LoL play and only creates a disadvantage in organized team play. Since we don't know who is on the other team and who they are good with or what kind of a comp they may go for, choosing not to ban doesn't affect either team's ability to pick champs. Your team is just as likely to pick the champ that could have been banned by the non-ban as their team is.

Now, it would be a different story if we had the ban-pick-ban-pick style the pros do (even without knowing the other teams style) because then the second round of bans could/should be targeted around banning champs from the roles not already selected and/or that would complete the comp (if their first picks are splitpush oriented, then banning wave clear or disengage champs would be of strategic benefit).

Some people aren't afraid and like a good challenge. Bring it on.

Edit: For all you haters out there, my reply was a joke, nothing more. I personally always ban, but now that I see how much hatred there is for it, maybe I won't. shrugs

You missed the part where they could ban a champ for someone else

Mr Noggenfogger2 votes

I mean I assume it's because it takes a lot more effort to ask your teammates who to ban, wait for them to respond, figure out who to ban from those responses, then ban them, than it does to just lock none in

Because it's really hard to type "Who to ban?"

SpaghettiVase4 votes

If it's too much effort to communicate with your team, maybe you shouldn't be playing a team game.

Yaśuo Main54 votes

In ranked that would be called being overly cocky and naïve.

Durzaka9 votes

Faker bans Garen every game because he is first on the list alphabetically for his version of the game.

Is he overly cocky and naive?

How else do you get better except by playing against everything?

YumaS2Astral7 votes

He is Faker, though

Durzaka7 votes

ok?

But why should I be forced to ban something? What if im ok with facing off against any possible match up?

Why should YOU decide how I use my ban? Thats why its my ban, not yours.

Honeydew Zekling3 votes

If you don't need to ban anyone, that's cool! You do you. But if you aren't going to use your ban, open it up to your team. Ask them if they want you to ban anyone for them. i'm sure they'd appreciate it. Especially a player that has a hard time against a few different champs but is only able to ban one.

Be a team player. Your ban is your own, but you are part of a team of 5. Help a summoner out :) Be a friendo

Durzaka1 votes

keyword is overly cocky.

Hes cocky because he knows it, but hes not overly cocky, hes the best and everyone knows it.

Somebody Love Me4 votes

Pro players tend to throwaway bans because they have to be able to play every single possible matchup on stage. That's the only reason why.

Craft Zeppelin12 votes

Or maybe he is secretly traumatized from his early years of league of the full 100 ad garen top cheese with ignite hiding in the bush at lvl 2. Who knows

50000000000000009 votes

It's because nobody plays Garen in Korean challenger so Faker doesn't know how to play against Garen.

lol about 3 years ago when playing mid lane as Nidalee i was in an absurdly easy match so i gave him 2 free kills to try to even it out. i lost lane after frequntly losing 1v1 to him and getting him to like 50 hp 6 more times..

i deserved that. (obviously it was unranked) but it was sad that every single time i fought him i so SOO damn close if if i wasnt just a stupid moron early game and wanted a "harder fight" i would we be the one with 8 kills not him.

never did that again...

lol god idk i dont remeber that game XD all i know was i was pissed they choose no one when i wanted another one of my hardcounters banned

chances are i was Nidalee or Morgana those are my two mains

and my two normal bans the last two patches are Volibear 100% banned when i jungle TahmKench 100% banned when i support

so changes are one of them got though and cost us the game..

but i honestly have zero recollection of what happened. that is just the mostly likely i cant think of given my current bans and the champs / roles i play.

but again i have no idea, i purposely try to forget things like that so i don't become tilted.

HonestJohnTheCon11 votes

Personally, I like it if I get into a five-man premade and we all decide to do the "no ban challenge". Should definitely be removed in ranked mode though, it's more for fun cheese rather than actual competitive play.

Alternatively, set someone's ban to "no ban" if they forget to ban, instead of removing everyone from champ select.

notice me Sin pi6 votes

on the other side, when I ask my teammates if they want me to ban a champ, occasionally no one says anything so I ban none. And one of them will say Camille 2 seconds after the ban phase.

wow ur so bm6 votes

The "none" option is to show everyone that you're edgy

Lanyr5 votes

Literally each player gets a ban. What they do with it is up to them. Use your ban however you want and let your teammates ban whatever they want, because it’s theirs to use as is yours.

BroLane4 votes

Sometimes I try to donate the ban and my teammates don't respond until it's too late.
