Co-Op Suggestion

If you're going to have two bots top lane, could you please tone them down a smidge? I mean, if someone jungles and you're by yourself, you literally cannot step an inch outside of turret range in the early going without them locking you down hard and chunking about half your health. This isn't helped by the fact that the top lane combinations you see are crap like Xin Zhao/Renekton or Blitzcrank/Nasus. I don't want to be forced to wait inside turret range until I've reached a high enough level or my jungler or someone else comes to help. I'm not learning anything from that because it's not often I'm going to see such perfect gangbang duos coming at me. Though, now that I think about it, when the bots are clearly programmed to go ham whenever they have the numbers advantage, and when most top laners have some form of CC or sticking power, that's always going to be a bad time.

Which leads me to ask, what is the reason again that co-op has duo top? Is jungling too complicated a role to program a bot to do?

Anyway, perhaps you could somehow dial back the aggression in lane if it's 1v2? Maybe have it so if someone locks in with smite, the top bots will go a little easier on the top laner. Anything would be better than how it is now, since even as a top lane main I find it a pain in the butt. I'll often take champions I intend to go top with mid in co-op just so I can see how I perform in a proper 1v1 situation. You might say it'll make you learn your champion and his or her limits faster, but if I wanted to jump in the deep end like that I'd just start in team builder instead.

I've run into this as well, not gonna lie. Ultimately, they're just bots, so they're not hard to abuse and outplay, but it's definitely a struggle for levels 1-6, since they can and will go nonstop aggressive on you for having the audacity to farm.

As for why bots don't jungle, there are possibly a handful of reasons. When Riot updated the AI, one of the things they mentioned was that bots don't actually have the ability to know what jungle monsters are, as they are only receptive to allies, enemies, and terrain. Another thing that they probably didn't mention is the complication of jungle routes: there are multiple ways to have a first clear, they would need to balance farming and ganking effectively, they don't know how to make decisions with smite, etc.

Riot explicitly stated that they don't like having the AI run duo top lane, but with jungle being the complicated role that it is, it's pretty much the only option they have without completely overhauling bot programming again.

The worst thing is actually when you get one low enough for them to recall, and you start going after the one who's left because he's alone and thus nowhere near as aggressive... and up comes his buddy, back from base, and if you're too far up it's not gonna end well since they turn that switch right back on the instant they have two of them in the same general vicinity. At least one of the bots tends to go group with the other bots in another lane after so long.

I totally get how having bots jungle is a much taller task than you'd think, since bots can't even nail the mechanics of ward hopping half the time, something that should be much easier than the jungle, which has more or less infinite permutations. When the Jax bot ward hops as poorly as I do, you know it's bad. I literally watched a Jax ward hop the width of the ward itself away once. It was the funniest thing.

Yeah, the bots are...dumb. It honestly got to the point where I don't mind first-timing champions in normals just because I know that bots will not provide me with any practical gameplay experience. Only exception is for really mechanically intensive champions, because I actually suck at this game really badly, I just avoid playing champions with more than one skillshot.

Lol you still play bots? The only time I play bots is if I need to waste a short amount of time or get enough small ip to get a champ.

Not many people know your win of the day bonus goes into effect for bot matches, meaning it's the fastest and easiest way to get that. And I use it to test out new champions, or practices ones I'm inexperienced with, in a safe environment. AKA, one that won't have people saying I'm the worst Shaco NA and I should never play him again when I told them it was my first normal match with him and when he's not exactly the sort of champion most people can just pick up and dominate with immediately.

Oh okay then we're on the same page then. Nevermind hahaha. Sorry if I sounded salty that was not my intention. Anyway yeah I got the same reason.

I actually use them to practice some 1v2 scenarios in case of lane swap lol
