About Health Restoration

So while this may not be a major issue at the moment, there is something I wish to discuss. Mainly it has to deal with health restoration in general. As of right now in League there are quite a few ways in which to regain health. Many champions have abilities that can heal others and plenty of abilities that provide self healing. If I were to list them all we would be here all day. Though on top of the abilities from champions, there are plenty of items to help keep yourself or others sustained. This can range from life steal, spell vamp, health regen, or effects like item 3065 that healing from all sources. Heck there is even summoner 7 that everyone can have access to. This is nice and all to stay healthy but then again from what I can tell there looks to be little ways to combat these. Its either you burst your targets instantly or they will just quickly heal back up depending on the team comp or even champion themselves.

Recently though I have been seeing recently a lot of ways to reduce healing have been taken out of the game. For one MissFortune had her ability to apply grievous wounds (which reduces healing and regen effect by 50%) has been removed. Fizz also was a champion that used to apply grievous wounds, but honestly it was a good thing that it was removed from him. With those two sources removed lets look at the other sources of healing reduction. By my count there are 4, 2 of these being champions which are Varus and Katarina, 1 of them being an item item 3165, and the last being a summoner spell summoner 14. Technically there are 5 sources if the count the global aura of the map Howling Abyss. Now if we are talking playing on Summoner's Rift then we have 4 available sources of healing reduction compared to, 12 sources of healing from one champion to another, more then 40 sources for champions to be able to heal themselves through abilities, and through items you have even more sustain ability. Especially to those who can stack these healing effects.

To me there seems to be a lack of healing reduction and I want to know what others think about this. Could there perhaps be a way to add more grievous wounds into the game? Either through items, abilities, or even just ideas in general. Give me some thoughts on this if you would please.

I believe that they have been systematically removing healing reduction so that they can rebalance healing abilities. At the moment, such abilities are either very powerful when unmitigated or quite weak when reduced.

Though I can see them leaving healing reduction of Ignite since it is tied to a summoner spell.

Ignite seems to be the only reliable way to apply grievous wounds in my eyes. You can ensure one target takes healing reduction. Though look at what other ways that we have. Varus has his Hail of Arrows, that the enemy can simply walk out of. Katarina does apply it with her ult but it only lasts a short time, if they don't die from the burst at first. Then we have item 3165 which only applies it when they are below 40% health. It is a shame really because it only applies it from magic damage and if anyone buys a item 3065 then it becomes more difficult to apply sense the item gives magic resist already. Just I wish there was a bit more ways to apply healing reduction sense there are many sources of healing within the game.

I think you may have missed my point. I believe that Riot is intentionally trying to remove healing reduction from the game.

This would allow them to rebalance healing effects without having to worry about making the worst-case (healing reduced) feel useless and without having the best-case (healing unreduced) feel overpowered. If they limit healing reduction to Ignite, then that gives the summoner spell an additional strategic use without making the effect prevalent enough to devalue healing.
