Smurf Accounts should be banned from ranked games.

Here's why. When a smurf enters the playing field of bronze-silver (sometimes gold) he creates an artificial ELO. What this means is it tarnishes how people are matched up based off their skill level. Bronze is expected to face other bronze/silver and vice versa. When you place a smurf into that mix, it creates an unfair advantage that will affect 9 other people. 4 of them will benefit from a win they may not have deserved so their MMR goes higher, causing them to be placed into games where they are not ready and promptly feed and get trashed talked to. The other 5 get a loss that may have been a win had it been a even playing field.

Now, to make this easy to understand, we will compare a smurf to a professional basketball player. Now, that professional basketball player assumes a new alias, tells people he's 18, and plays a game with the local high school kids down the road. Now suddenly the other team can't even score a basket. The "new guy" makes all the baskets and steals all the balls. That's essentially what you're doing to this game when you make a smurf account. You create an artificial environment that gives you an unfair advantage over the other players while causing all sorts of chaos in the meantime.

If you want to smurf normals, ARAM, whatever, go right ahead. That stuff doesn't count toward anything. But the moment you take this into ranked is when I have an issue with it and frankly, if you're that good you shouldn't be ruining things for other people.

The smurfs don't even stay there long. They skip divisions throughout the trip.

Most due, but some actually lose on purpose. I've seen many people do it on my friend's list and I've seen it posted on here enough times that this needs to be addressed.

The players who lose on purpose should be punished heavily.

Which is a bannable offense that isn't really enforced at all. It's quite hard to tell if someone's genuinely under-performing or feeding to lose(as long as they are not straight up inting).

It's mostly towards steamers, who can't feed to get to bronze V for a bronze to challenge series. But they do it off cam or get an account from fans anyway.

It's a technical problem, not a policy one.

There is a streamer that uses a smurf account to specifically lose ranked games because "Low elo players don't deserve to win matches" according to him. If you want I can link you the youtube video talking about him.

How would you know if they are a smurf account?

Funkin Dunkin1 votes

Because many actually admit to it. Either in game or in forums.

Once its bannable then no one would admit it.

Exactly. No one would admit it and this would change nothing. I have smurf accounts (if you can call a gold play a smurf) that I play other roles in in ranked. My macro may be better but mechanics wise I'm not good. When I get autofilled to my primary role I do tend to just trash the enemy botlane however lol.

And then pro basketball players takes of his disguise, they talk, he give them some pointers, they learn something, get a bit better and everyone benefits.

I agree , it really messes with the match making system if a plat gets to a bronze game . In my opinion if you want to play ranked in a smurf account it should be within the lines of 3 divisions to 1 league or else it really just ruins the game for at least half the players (while the other team proceeds to honor the smurf and make comments of how he stomped 1v5). As for the other argument pros and streamers generally use accounts close to their level of skill.

no , destroying noobs is extremely satisfying .

Clearly you've never been in a rank you shouldn't be in and then climb. You climb like 10x faster than normal. Plus the system is fairly decent at placing you with close to accurate MMR. If a Challenger level player is placed bronze then they are clearly boosted animals. Unless they lose on purpose, and frankly most Challengers can beat bronze players with their eye closed, they shouldn't be matched up against them with the match making.
