Put a manacost on Jayce's R to "force" the tearbuild

Jayce is a champion which kit is far too powerful in the earlygame if he builds straight damage. A Jayce with Ghostblade first item can simply oneshot any champion in the game with full combo, with very few champions able to respond. When Jayce builds tear, his early/midgame was closer to balanced (but still strong!), and his lategame was not so bad.

Put a cost on his transform, and make it give a Tear-stack again. That should effectively smooth out his powercurve, and remove him from the autowin lane-status he is in now.

i dont think pigeonholing jayce is a good idea. rather he needs some bigger changes

But i actually like his kit the way it is! He hasn't been a problem for 2 years, now he is OP, just nerf him instead of reworking him just because reasons

Did Jayce get played in Worlds recently? Barely saw the guy and now the boards are full of people crying over him.

Anyway, giving manacost on a transform ability is a bad idea - there is a reason none of those have a cost. The ability's main function is accessing the other half of a champion's kit and it barely does anything by itself. If you have to hit him, hit him somewhere else -- like reverting this last manacost buffs.

Though about this, but if you are OOM, you basically only have access to AAs anyway. This is not true for Nida and Elise, so they can't have a transform manacost - but Jayce needs mana to do anything at all.

Why not just nerf some of his durability

Riot claims they try their best to not force playstyles.

His build path is incredibly flexible after tear - try for example item 3004 item 3071 item 3035 item 3025 item 3143 item 3047 vs full AD team, it's so broken! "Forcing" tear is okay IMO - look at Cass, playing her with no tear? Nah... But if her manacosts were halved so she didn't need tear, she would be incredibly broken, a bit like Jayce is :)

His combo takes so much time to hit though. A well used dash flash or stun can keep you from being oneshotted

Not going to happen.

The entire point is to NOT let Jayce get Tear stacks just spamming his R on the way to lane. Spamming, very low-cooldown abilities are very dangerous for Tear-stacking and Jayce doesn't even need an enemy around to use his R. Since he is supposed to switch a lot the cost cannot be made too high. But if it's too low then he spams it like crazy just as he's returning to lane or roaming and he stacks Tear way faster than intended.

You do NOT want Jayce to be stacking Manamune faster and safer than he already is.

Forcing a champion to do something or force a build, ruins the idea of champion in general, no champion should be forced to do anything, making them less verstile or different each type you play
