Nexus Blitz might be the best chance we have for Rift to be fun again.

Experimental Modes & Nexus Blitz

If Nexus Blitz makes it out of alpha and becomes a permanent mode, we might be able to have our old Summoner's Rift back. Blitz looks like it's being designed for the casual players and for people who like the current fast paced version of Summoner's Rift. So with the people who like the current state of the game getting their own mode, it could allow Riot to give the hardcore players/veterans back the Summoner's Rift we lost almost 3 years ago without pissing off the people who like the fast paced SR. There's even a chance Blitz could get it's own ranked queue.

If Blitz is a success, then Riot could start putting all the things the veterans hate on Blitz instead of Rift. Crap we've been complaining about like RNG mechanics, worthless towers, low counterplay items/runes etc could all go over to Blitz in their current state. They already said there would be mode specific balance changes for various champions. Hell if the mode is successful enough, maybe we could have 2 balance teams with the the SR balance team focusing more on what the veterans want. And if some people don't want to play a longer, more strategical game of League, they can go play Blitz.

I might have been getting a bit carried away there, but if this is the actual idea Riot has behind Blitz, then who ever came up with the idea is a genius.

I agree, Nexus Blitz feels like what Riot's been trying to do with SR for the past three or so seasons. If we could have one mode for fast-paced, bloody combat, and another for more cerebral play, we could have the best of both worlds. Now all we have to do is hope the mode succeeds.
