Why would any ranked system do this?

I just got into Gold and I worked exceptionally hard to get there. I mean very hard, considering I started in Bronze this season, i played, practiced, learned new meta heavy champions and much more and eventually I made it into to gold, i was indeed very proud.

But now I am conflicted because the system seems to be working against me and fearing I might fall back into silver I have stopped playing ranked altogether. I don't understand why Riot's ranked system works this way.

Winning games nets me around 7-10 lp. Where as losing makes me fall 30+ lp

Why in gods name would i even continue to play ranked now? Knowing what I worked hard for could be taken away in just a few games because of a rigged or faulty rank system?

Trolls, aside, i would like to add that though I may not be a diamond player, I would like to continue to hone my skills and climb the ladder in the future, How does one convinces the system to balance out the win and losses of LP distribution?

Lets start with the world is not out to get you and the system is not rigged.

You would have to fall to S5 mmr to fall out of gold at this point.

Your probably climb to fast then has a string of losses after hitting gold 5. These losses triggered the safty system(anti spike) and is holding you back til you prove your self. Give your MMR time to actually get to your rank. Rank and MMR are 2 different systems that have funny ways of working together.

Thanks for the reply. I think I understand but I do have to point out that since I have been in gold I have only lost one game (In ranked), and that's when I noticed the huge LP decrease.

However I recently just won a few games now and I got about 25+ lp for the wins so I dunno, maybe its balanced out now? Whatever the cause was maybe I just have ladder anxiety.

another possibility since you did not lose that many, is that you the high player in your games. Riot made the system a bit looser and quicker this season if it can not find a match quickly(30 sec). it is possible that the system through you into some games where you were just at the high-end and were expected to win.

Example. You are a 1500 rated player but get thrown into a game of 1400s (s2). If you are the only high guy then the system is going to reward you less cause it expected a win for you(cause you are that much better) (numbers are all guess work)
