Just had a beautiful 55 minute game.

Was heavenly. Game was close, backwards and forwards. Several barons and a few elders and backdoors. Everyone all all teams did great. Everyone chilled throwing out jokes. Very few mistakes. Team fights were strategic if we lost the last 1 or 2 people would back and fight under tower until rest respawed. Enemies too low health to push. Tanks taking dmg under towers from minions to prevent wave ouahes. No flaming Not even from enemy team because......everybody felt positive and happy with the game and had fun. No stomp for either side. All full build loads of gold switching builds to suit the TFs.

Then I realised this was the first close 50 minute odd game I've had in months. I think even since before Xmas.

:(

I think the biggest reason people dislike LOL right now isn't even the burst it's the stomping and feeling of helplessness. It ints people hard. I want more fun games like this where people are chilled even in losses. I expected us to lose and I wasn't even upset.

RIOT I don't know if you do. I suspect not. But you need to adapt your matchmaking as often as you adapt the game in patches. Make them closer and more enjoyable. People will be happier then even in losses.

IDK man, its pretty rare that I end up in stomps. I guess I feel bad that for me, its either a pretty close game on my teams loss, or its either a fucking absolute smash for my teams win. Very rarely have I had a game where my teams been smashed (recently), but it happens now and then.

In any case, I , despite what probably a lot of people feel- absolutely love long and/or close games. I love when you fight a 5v5 teamfight and its like, no ones really doing stupid shit. Everyones focusing who they should- using their abilities efficiently, and engaging the way they should. And I feel like thats what tends to make a game satisfying even if you lose- the fact that you knew your team did everything fucking humanly possible and they just had either a better comp, better items, or a better engage, whatever it was it was a "fair" win.

Dont really mind being matchmade against harder opponents. The literally only thing that fucking peeves me is getting "unranked" players in my games, and FUCKING ESPECIALLY in promo's. Thats utterly stupid and should under no circumstances should someone just because they've won 5 games, lost 3- end up in a gold 2 promo match.

I think that's the thing right there getting bad matchups with vastly different MMR. You chuck in a highly meta based burst damage dependent pick to win comp on top of that and it's a recipe for stomps and angry players.

Like you said when I lost and there was nothing more I or my team could do it was close and we were simply outplayed it didn't feel like I wasted a part of my life. It was fun all the same.

They really need to do something. But looking back at LOL historically it seems any changes other than balance related tens to happen at the end of season only which means another 8 months of pure tilting matchups. And that's assuming matchmaking and balancing will be looked at.

Sigh...I just want more fun games. Is that too much to ask for?

Those types of games are seriously the best

I had one kind of like this like a month or two ago and my team and the enemy team had a blast. I forgot most of the details but i think it was me as Morgana with Ezreal Taliyah Volibear Teemo against Nasus Jinx Thresh Khazix Cassiopeia . the game was so back and forth that the game ended with all inhibs and both nexus towers down on both sides. we lost but only after a long and hard fought teamfight near our base. the game was so fun because everyone was happy and cheerful, there was even a double ace because of teemo shrooms and everyone died laughing. I never thought that this game could ever be that much fun in this shitty meta but that game was really one of the best ive had in a long time.

Great that you finally had a good game!

I finally have to get this point in though, because I've seen a lot of people pointing fingers at matchmaking for all the stomps that are happening.

Matchmaking might be a part of the stomps, but it is BY FAR not the leading culprit for all the one-sided stomps in the game. It doesn't matter how good matchmaking is with the game as snowbally as it is. Let me use an example to demonstrate:

Imagine if kills didn't give 300 gold, but 3 000 gold (outrangeous, but extremely obvious snowball mechanic for sake of demonstration). Suppose matchmaker did a perfect job, and you and your opponent is perfectly even. Everything is even in the game, with your rotations countered by their rotations, laning went pretty even. Then at around 9:00 or so (very tame game), your JG ganks top and gets 1 kill. Now your team is 3k ahead. Is the game going to be even? No. Your JG is going to be so far ahead that he's going to become god on the rift. He'll have an item advantage over everyone, and get kills onto other players, and they'll be godly too. In the end, the matchmaking might have been perfect, but the match snowballed so hard that the losing team has no way back into the game.

The issue plaguing LoL right now isn't the matchmaking: they can adjust that to hell and back and it wouldn't change a thing. If they want people to eventually have more even games, they need to provide a more mechanics for a team that is behind to push the snowball back.

its very simple to balance matchmaking, they'd done it already if they wanted to

Back in Season 4 or 5, we ended up winning a 4v5 when our teammate RQ for a good 10-15 minutes. That felt good.

Yeah I had a 50 minute game and the craziest thing happened after the game I took off my glasses and I could see perfectly. I checked my bank account and I had 20 million out of nowhere. Oh yeah it also fixed world hunger.

The most intense games for me are always around the 40 minute mark. I've never had a game go 50+ minutes that wasn't a huge slog, because if a team is actually trying to win the game it won't last 50+ minutes unless it's one of those slogs where neither team can reliably engage and they just sit there and play footsy till someone gets caught out and loses the game.

It is partly community mindset though. You should anticipate that you could lose. People just afk and rage quit when ever the game isnt in their favor spam early surrender and afk if it doesnt work or even worse they try to surrender dont afk and take all the farm they can while running from every fight ever so they take gold that could be effective on some one who is trying and dont use it at all.
