would deleting IceBorn solve problems or amplify them?

Yes I think it would have some positive impacts in that the megameta IBG + sunfire buiuld would be gone and with it tank Ekko and Fizz to a least some degree.

The potential AoE perma slow would be gone which would force Ezreal to be build for more damage and less durability.

Tanks have more then enough armor and CDR options in the game currently that losing IBG would not effect their ability to max CDR.

What reason does IBG really have for even staying in the game? IF it has a reason why could another item not potentially solve it better?

I am asking and my view is kinda bias against it evne needing to be in the game but I would like to know why it needs to even be in the game given what it has caused to happen.

It would leave frozen heart as the only armor + cdr option. Frozen heart is situational in only being really worthwhile against teams with multiple auto attackers. Likewise iceborn is situational in needing to be a champion who can utilize the sheen procs.

I see no problem with the item itself. Some champions may abuse it, but we're seeing that a lot lately. I think Sunfire is more at fault for the combo - it was overbuffed when everyone wanted dead man's and now does way too much damage for its cost and other stats. Step 1 to fixing the combo is putting Sunfire back to its preseason state. Ezreal isn't much of a problem given his current balance - just make him less safe and his pick rate will drop.

Iceborn remained virtually unchanged for years and years until this preseason. Generally, the sheen reworks sucked. Nobody asked for Trinity to get gutted the way it did, and nobody asked for Iceborn to be made such a potent item (they took out the situational AP in exchange for a really strong stat line coughtoomuchCDRcough and excellent passive AoE scaling). Lich bane made it out okay in comparison, since it only got a tiny change.

Iceborn has for a very long time been a fair bruiser item and has only recently seen abuse because of champs who are inherently broken and abuse the fact that the item is slightly overtuned. If riot reverted the sheen changes they made in preseason (along with the changes to all the upgrades) IBG would be fine and the problem champs (i.e. Ekko and co.) would be appropriately gutted/reworked as necessary.

This is something I have been saying for the longest time. Sheen items had no reason to be changed.

IBG competes with FH and outperforms it.

Trinity force was a core item for when I play Udyr. Now I don't even bother since the stats are now meh and with meh stats for what it offers at a high price isn't even worth it when I can get IBG which in the end outperforms Trinity as well at a far more cheaper price.
