Is anyone else bothered with the lack of true supports in the bot lane?

I want to see supports. It seems only a select few supports are even played anymore. I hardly ever even see Thresh and he was the 2nd most picked champion last season.

I'm sick of seeing Mid Laners that became supports: Brand, Annie, Morgana, Vel'Koz.

I'm irritated by all these bruisers becoming supports: Trundle, Shen, Poppy, Nautilus.

Even ADC are becoming supports: AP Miss Fortune with thunderlords is a growing trend in my games.

The fact that all these other champions are able to "support" better than supports is seriously flawed in my opinion.

Support main here. I'm slowly working my way through mastering them. I only play Sona, Nami, Taric, and Soraka so far. I see a lot more actual supports than not. Also of note, Morg while a midlaner was still always a support as well. I would never count her as a non-support.

That said, I have kicked the crap out of the non-support supports with them easily. Especially Sona with lich bane. It's too much fun ripping apart enemy botlane with her.

I love the variety personally. I was sick to death of thresh Braum leona every game.

Bard Blitzcrank Thresh Nautilus Braum Nami Are my go to supp. Mostly bard, Naut, and Thresh because they help a lot with AD champs.

I support Nami usually. I agree though, I hate the new adc/sup champ craze. I had a miscommunication and ended up supporting with Ashe and I'm just gonna say, it's pretty hard. The build has to be good. I built items that assisted with the team and not myself. And steered clear of adc items. No damage output, no attack speed. Etc. We won. I ended with like 21 assists and 5 kills. Baha. I did okay as that sup. But if I was Nami, it would have been better support. I don't have Thresh. Tahm is really good support too.

But you can play whatever you want? And why would you go weaker champion when you have better options lel

I would say meta sheep, since many of those champs saw LCS play. Yet most of that was so last season.

Morg and Annie have been supports for a while now. I personally prefer Vel'kos as a support rather than a mid laner. Brand is the only new mage, and yet had some niche builds before.

Shen, Naut, and Trundle have been LCS supports before. Poppy is the only new one.

If you have a pretty good understanding of the champ, and have a theory on how it could serve the support role, I say go for it.

Because no one knows how to use their brains anymore; people are only accustomed to mash buttons in order and then complain that X champion sucks.

I mean, it's VERY obvious that things like Lulu Nami disappeared from botlane for the longest time, in which both of them actually requires a brain to play if you want to do well botlane.

You're not seeing Thresh?

Are we playing the same game?

Thresh has fucking ~30% pick rate.

He is the Vayne of the supports.

Though not popular picks, Sona and Nami's pick rates increased a lot in the last patches. Bard's pick rate also skyrocketed. Janna, Soraka, Tahm, Leona and Braum all still have fairly high pick rate. And although they were never popular to begin with, Taric and Zilean's pick rate also increased.

Also, of all the champions you mentioned, the only ones that have actual high pick rates as supports are Morgana and Brand.

The only one I hate is Brand and it's just because of the stun duration not scaling with Q rank. Outside of that it's nice to see other things down there. I still see a lot of traditional supports doing well, there are just some other things mixed in now. Thank god it's not Thresh and Blitz every game anymore.
