Am I the only one who feels like keystones shouldn't exist?

I feel like those just make the game too hard to balance, if one keystone is too strong everyone will take it (thunderlord for now), and some keystone just have too much synergy with some champions wich makes them too strong Soraka Yasuo Malzahar

There will always be a keystone better than another/in a better tree, or a keystone that fits perfectly a champion so it's impossible to tottaly balance these new masteries... And these said masteries are so impactfull they can make a champion OP on their own, like it happened with Soraka, wich got her nerfed when she was a tottaly balanced champion before windspeaker appeared. I feel like masteries shouls be like runes, impactful but not to the point where they change a champion on their own...

I think the problem is actually a little more simple. The keystones themselves are a massive jump up in power compared to all of the other masteries preceding them. Some keystones are arguably stronger than all of the previous masteries combined.

gotta agree, i think most of the weird imbalances are just how whack some of the new top tier masteries work. i also really dislike how boring the lower paths are with the one or the other option

Been basically arguing this for a couple of weeks myself. I think once people get over the novelty of having strong masteries to choose from, they'll start to awaken to the horror that any powerful effect the keystones can have at a balanced position comes at further cost to the distinctiveness of individual champion kits.

I think it's generally a better idea to allow powerful customization of strengths for any scaling kind of power to take place within items. You can allow tinkering witihin specific parameters of a role better this way.

They already nerfed champs to somewhat correct this...looking at Malzahar Malz losing 2% damage on his W at rank 5...nerfs that wouldn't get changed back if they did change the masteries...resulting in a permanent loss in DPS for the champs.
