Unlike other tanks that can actually go on a champion and apply permanent CC, Malphite only has his ultimate as a way to get in a teamfight. Miss it, and you're pretty much done for the fight.
His Q is a single target spell that applies a moderate slow and his other dmg spell is a close range.
I really do think he could use a small update on few of his spells.
He has too much power in the R, making the rest of his kit be of very low quality. The R needs a previous animation, like Galio's E, with that disadvantage it could make the Q do a little knock up and a little more synergy between the E and W.
Most tanks dont have spammable CC... Leona is probably the only one with reliable hard CC. Malphite is less a "i go in and be a huge threat" and more a "i go in after soaking initial burst then walk out and help clean up with Q spam"
malphite has really good spammable soft CC in his Q, dont knock it.
Most of Malphite's power is in his Ult. If Riot ever decided to re-work Maphite, he would probably end up like Kayle or Aatrox.

Well yeah but we sure don't want him to reworked then gets 3 cc abilities ( or 4 ) and ends up being pick or ban in pro play then gets gutted
Malph just needs some mana buffs and some capability too cs.
