How do I stop playing like a pussy?

One of the first things I ended up learning was "don't feed". I've tried to get good at avoiding death if I can, but it's often come at the cost of never going in when I'm supposed to if I'm anything but support, and dying anyways because they're able to kill me regardless. It works well enough when I play someone like Soraka since she's not supposed to be the damage carry, but I think trying to main support has rubbed off on all the other roles I play, and when I get other roles my support instinct kicks in and I just end up running away.

How do I help that? How do I tell when it's a good time to go in or not?

You must experience bad decisions, and good ones. There is no better way to learn then to experience a bad engage or whatever, and then reflect back on the play and figure out what went wrong. Then apply that to the next time this scenario happens.

Start playing Alistar or Malphite support to learn diving

Well, play a mid lane mage, like Xerath . You're suppose to operate from way back like a coward, and if anyone gets close you throw a stun at them and run away.

Can confirm, I have some of my lowest death games on Xerath, and if I have a lot, we probably are losing

Play safe, but try to incorporate an attempt at taking advantages. Play top. Its a great way to learn this. Top practically revolves around it. If you play safe, you WILL get experience and be able to farm under tower, however, you will likely give your opponent control over the lane if you play too safe. Over time you will need to learn to throw in auto attack, skills, etc, when trading, csing, etc when it will be to your advantage as opposed to the enemy, like when you have a lot of creeps, or he autos you, so you can throw a stun/slow on him, etc.

You'll notice when they think they can be aggressive, and you will be able to work around it over time or even bait them. Vladimir, Irelia, and Maokai are GREAT examples of champs who will accentuate this gameplay and help you learn to play around windows!

Safety comes from the circumstance, not from purely avoiding the threat of damage!

play arams. feed. realize you want to poke all the time and then get killed because enemy team stuns you or something. git gud. learn to dodge skillshots. poke all the time without dying cuz you dodge everything. watch pro streams for your lane. notice their aggression. copy and paste. die in normals now. feed in normals till your aggression nets a positive kda on one champ only. (IN THIS ORDER) Repeat for more champs.

aka experience and trial and error.

i would rather you played too aggressive than played too passive when you learn a new champion or role. learn your role and your champs limits. spam this champ and viola. play champs that must go all in or force extremely favorable trades to learn when to go in and when not to, youll figure out soon enough when one death in a bad lane matchup means a crappy lane phase for the rest of the game (ad assassins with no escapes or melee champs in the mid lane or short range ads in bot lane or melee support bot lane or assassiny melee top lane are good for learning when to all in or do massive in-n-out 3/4 hp health trades)

Keep playing support. Go Leona. After a few games you will start to get a feel for when to engage and how to wreck face. Leona Leona Leona Leona

When its good time to go in?? if you are a support, its any time an ally attacks a champion. Ohh and btw about "surviving". if you play support then you shouldnt survive. You know these teamfights where all teamates die but only support survives?? thats the sign of a bad support, because support isnt supposed to care about survival more then survival of his / hers teamates
