@Meddler: Does built-in gold-generation mean a Champion's late-game must be weak?

When looking at TF, GP, and Draven, all of them have varying degrees of late-game fall-off because they can finish kits faster than others. I'm in the middle of making a thief Champion who has a seriously risky means of bonus gold generation and weak early game, but has a devastatingly powerful late-game.

Is my design flawed? Is it required that if a Champion has bonus gold generation, they must have a weaker late-game?

gp actually is damn strong lategame, and old ashe also was more a lategame carry depite haveing a goldgain passive. However, both gp and old ashe have/had a weak ealy and really need some items to scale up. So goldgain doesn't have to mean bad late, but if they have a good late that can be reached rather fast, the early needs to be a weak spot to compensate.

A bit, compared to someone like Tristana. Draven isn't nearly as impactful in a team fight because of his lack of utility.
