Why do "assassins" like Ekko, Fizz and Zed have %health (or missing health) damage?

I've read that Rito said they put %health damage in fighters' kits to normalize their damage against tanks and squishies, preventing the latter to be bursted down too easily.

Then why do certain assassins have %damage? In my mind, assassins as a class should have next to no tools to fight tanks or beefy targets. Those numbers could be calibrated as if they were against targets with 700-2300 hp (via ranks or levels) and the world would be happier.

Because % missing health helps them kill low health targets. Which are their intended targets. And with the burst assassins have, they can get a squishy low enough to trigger a good amount of % missing health damage to ensure the kill. It's not for fighting tanks.

i guess its to help kill low health targets. I mean rengar with just flat numbers straight up kills almost anything, for example, percentage can only do so much, I guess is their take in that.

Why ''assassins'' and not simply assassins?

except for zed who doesnt have % health damage in his kit, youre correct op.

the item independent % is one of the reasons bruiser fizz and bruiser ekko became viable. i have to say i even disagree with duskblades % damage mechanic. i dont understand why its not level scaling flat damage, or ad scaling flat damage like thunderlords, that triggers below a certain health threshold.

Fizz and Ekko have missing HP% damage AKA deals more damage the more missing HP a target has, this is here so assassins can execute their target easily while not having so much brute force in their kits. Fighters and tanks have maximum HP% damage AKA deals a lot of damage the more max HP a target has and a smaller amount of damage if the target has a small amount of max HP, this is here so tanks can't hit a point where they won't be dealing so much damage and snow ball while allowing them to deal a moderate amount of damage while building mainly defensive items.
