** Deny them kills**

When denied nutrition early in their life, they will be weak and fragile. Though powerful when fed, they lack the ability to penetrate a tough hide early in their life.

**Call your jungler. **

Riven are rather aggressive in their nature habitat, leaving themselves exposed to ganks while they tunnel-vision on the kill.

Call your jungle again

When they are killed, Riven is naturally inclined to deflect blame to other players on their team and ruin their morale. They lose focus in their blind rage rather easily, alienating themselves from their pack and leaving them isolated and vulnerable.

Honestly this guy is right, Now i'm not also saying to insult said riven, whilst subtly blaming their jg for not showing up in all chat.... but i'm saying riven has the highest rage quit percentage of all champions so...

My preferred choices are just playing Poppy or a champion with good poke or CC.

As for actual strategies, if you can interrupt her Q combo then she's forced to retreat. Most of her damage is through her abilities, so fighting her on cooldown works best.

wait til she uses two dashes to go in on her... kick the living shit out of her when her CDs are up but make sure you have range, disengage, or sustain

early tabis, her dmg will be a lot less and you'll be surprised how well it works, if she uses her e really badly you can pick that up and use her bad shield timing against her.

Maokai Trundle are a couple

any champ that can reduce her damage ( trundle Q ) or slow her, stop her combo... Maokai 's Q is great for that and so is his W

any champ that can out sustain her and have similar cd ...

if you can poke her alot cuz she has no sustain and her HP regen is shit.

also items that reduce attack speed (that have armor) lessen her damage cuz she cant auto as quickly between abilities

another thing that helps alot is summoner 3

Tabi's hurts Riven A LOT

Also if you can work with your jungler to kill her and set her behind in experience it will hurt her more than most people realize.

If you hit six before Riven without giving her kills it usually relegates her to a farm lane. Or makes her possibly take desperate TP plays.

Hope she sucks, and if she does just beat the shit out of her.

If she doesn't suck and knows how to animation cancel call your jungler unless you're playing Illaoi or Renekton.

Riven Cooldowns

Q: 13 seconds (Flipping attacks) W: 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 / 7 (Stun) E: 10 / 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 (Dash/Shield) R: 130 / 95 / 60 (Ult, Cone wave that deals %missing HP dmg.

You want to attack or trade riven when her Q is on CD, her Q can ONLY attack in the direction she is facing, meaning she cannot flip left, then right, then back without manually re-directing riven..use this to your advantage to out-Position her and out trade her. Most experienced rivens will NOT use their ult until you are at about 40% HP...so save any dashes or flashes or whatever maneuverability you have for her ult...Good luck

However, a skilled RIven can go left, then right, then back :P

Most Riven's will stun you or third Q you so you can't dodge the ult, or ult you earlier for extra burst and clean up with Q's.

Also, her ult doesn't actual do %missing HP dmg. It does %extra damage based on how low you are (4% extra for every 1% you are missing, I think).

Anyone with stuns and a burst combo beats riven in lane as long as they play the farm, stun, punish for mistakes, repeat until ganks and/or ult game. Examples. Annie. Lux,

There is one champ that renders pretty much all melee champs top lane useless, Renekton . For real he counters her quite well, if you wanna beat riven you gotta go for a bigger lane bully. If you are the jungler try ganking her toplane(most junglers tend to ignore toplane and allow her to play the lane out as she sees fit) no one likes bullies in real life doing as they please so why would let them do that to your team, your ohana.

Some tips i would provide would be keep a distance from her(sounds obvious but hear me out), 75% of her gap closers are her main damage so if she wastes most of them just to get to you then a trade will go slighty better in you favour. If you are a more passive player then make the lane as boring as possible, i've seen assassin players get tilted really easily knowing they're stuck top, knowing they can't do much and (depending on your how good your team is doing) have to sit there just to see their team struggle.

Some other lane bullies i may recommend are: Darius Heimerdinger Illaoi Pantheon Quinn Gnar Kled JarvanIV Kennen

Pick Riven yourself and mash buttons faster than the opponent.

Making her waste her Q's and then engaging is a good way to guarantee a favorable trade. Let her catch you with the third Q, and then once she runs use your gapcloser.

Okay. So what the boards are saying is there IS counterplay to Riven. Some champions, spells and items straight up crush her. And often she is "Easy to deal with".

Thank you boards. That is just what I needed.

I like playing Karma and Lissandra into her. Karma can deny kill pressure with E and keep her in check with Q spam damage. In addition, cheeky RWs are great for sustaining yourself and baiting her into burning her cd's and subsequently a gank. Lissandra on the other is just press W when she comes in, Q>auto for tld proc and fall back a bit. She'll be forced to use Flash to all in, but it won't matter either way because your buildpath is pretty tanky and you have ult.

Now this might not work for you, this is pretty much just personal experience. Plus, Riven can still find ways to outplay you, because Riven.
