without exception, everyone on my friends list + myself was placed significantly lower than their rank last season going with at least 5/5 or better in their placements. My Gold III friend was placed in Silver III, I was gold V at end of last season, went 5-5 and put in silver IV, I could throw out lots of other examples but the short end of it is that literally everyone on my friends list is being placed a full 4-5 divisions lower than their previous rank, what gives?

I get that, but at 5-5 in placements shouldn't it at least be CLOSE to what you were last season? I can easily get gold again but this just seems weird to me.
