Ivern; How is everyone doing with him so far?

Ivern I guess I'm wondering how everyone else is doing with Ivern so far, since it doesn't feel like I'm on stable footing playing him. What's everyone building on him anyways that works well?

I'm finding in Dominion, item 3100 is working, but doesn't feel like it's quite hitting the mark as well as it would with other champs. And personally I've been trying to work in item 3115 , but it's hard to make it feel reliable to build without cost killing you. The output when you've got his W's passive on-hit combo'd with Nashor's definitely is feeling good compared to some champs you might want to build it on definitely I think. It kinda feels wonky though if you try to build defense, since you tend to melt over the duration.

Personally, Ivern seems to be fun to play so far as I have, but it feels like he's lacking a certain edge in fights, much less teamfights for sure right now. I'm not calling that he needs buffs right away, definitely give him time to settle in for sure, but I would hesitantly say that he feels like he will need some work in the near-future. I'd almost compare him to Leona in terms of total skillset though for balance outlook. He's like a squishy Leona I think and some of his skills come off as less-than-reliable until you basically know them inside and out. I hesitate to go full tank, because it feels like it's not quite hitting the mark when you need to engage and keep on an enemy. Thinking of like Nautilus, you won't end up sitting on their face the way his kit outputs his damage, it's a series of in-and-out combat to play safest.

His ranged thing is probably the hinkiest part for me. Getting Kayle's range switch down is difficult enough timing-wise, but since it appears to be Ivern's heaviest DPS skill, (the passive on his W) it means that when he's melee he's not really positioned greatly and not really doing his team much good there and his Q puts him exactly there. Yet when he tries to use his ranged attacks, it feels like he gets locked in a confined area around the bushes, making him easier to target. Not to mention how the bushes have a habit of punishing his own team sometimes.

His shield feels like his most stable skill to be honest, being just a reliable standard shield.

Daisy though, it definitely feels like Daisy dies a bit easy and has a hard time landing all 3 strikes of that knockup I think being both melee and having weird targeting hiccups... that might innately pull back the actual power of his kit. We definitely will need a better readout of where Daisy is in terms of stats I think eventually here either way. (Damage-per-hit and whatnot) I'm not seeing her as a powerful minion quite in the ultimate skill status is really where it's falling right now. Like a slightly less intimidating Tibbers actually.

On the opposite; Things I have learned: If you hit a Q on a target, Daisy can jump to them. Bushes get a bit more bush to them when placed just away from a wall. Brush can hide enemies, but it also briefly reveals a location when cast. (Over a wall this can be helpful.) This helps you see a target in a brush already and potentially land a Q more reliably on them, instead of burning your Q early... if you have a spare brush charge that is. Daisy lasts decently long and if she's out of combat long enough, she regenerates her health pretty rapidly. This potentially can help you re-engage after popping out of combat for a second.

TL;DR: How do you like Ivern? How well are you playing him do you think? How are you building him?

I am having a blast and doing well with him at all stages of the game every match as a tanky support Ivern.

The catch? I have a mastery 7 Rengar main friend who I am playing with. It's...horrifying.

So far I have enjoyed Ivern. Why?

Because people on the enemy teams think they can play ivern support and not give me a free win :D

You get more game interaction playing Ivern Support than you do in jungle.

Playing Ivern jungle is so boring, stand at camp lose hpX3 for 1 side of the map. Go to other side of map stand at camp lose hp X3, then you have nothing in jungle to do and your gank opportunities just feel so underwhelming.

The fact that he doesn't attack jungle camps makes a lot of his game play feel like watching paint dry, you get to try and gank enemies and you have no experience dealing with his autos and what not because you literally shouldn't attack a jungle camp compared to using his passive.

At least in the Support role you are constantly interacting with champions which gives your bush passive far more useful utility than when you attempt to gank a lane.

Over all I feel he needs some sort of damage buff, either on his stats or buff daisy.

I know daisy can regenerate hp but you have to run out of the fight to let her regen and at that point you might as well not go back in.

over all

walking simulator = ivern

Not to mention the camp costs. There's definitely ways to offset it, but it's pretty unhealthy quite how much it chunks him. Gromp for example if your team damages it for you, you definitely take less damage than Ivern does.

I've been playing him as a support. Have tried a few builds, but the only item that FELT good to build was Protobelt. Ancient coin line, going full Talisman instead of the Eyestone for the active. From there I just don't know.

Might also just be he only pairs well with certain ADC's in bot lane, but I have had fairly mixed results, trending towards not working well. I have yet to lane with a Caitlyn though.

Yeah. I've done REALLY good early game, but I can't seem to make him work later game. Though I can definitely say the "new champ" element is probably contributing to a lot of people's experiences of playing him.

Like one game I totally stole their blue to start and had a Skarner that let me take Gromp quite a bit. I basically was always 1 level ahead of bot lane for a good portion of the game. I took smite and only really took camps when my health was pretty full. I managed to help secure 4 kills (4 assists on my end) for my Vayne.

I completely controlled the Scuttlers and had a couple other jungle steals every bit, but I definitely fell off. With how fed our Vayne was, she probably could've carried if she didn't get so cocky about diving 1v5 and she started basically not ever being in range of any teammate, much less my shield, so I couldn't help her.

Taking Smite secured us a couple dragons, but once we started downhill, it fell to crap. Ivern doesn't have any real gamechangers to flip the situation of that.

Lots of wards really payed off.

Also, Caitlyn players haven't really been using the brush very well. It's pretty bad the few times I've paired with them. Definitely a pretty good pairing, since she's ranged enough that Ivern's limited feeling support of snare and shield/slow can keep her pretty secure.

I love Ivern. As I jungle main, get put against him, free wins.
