I won't believe this until they do the one thing I know they won't do: reveal their grinding scheme mmr system.

That sounds about right. I think I gave up on ranked last season after getting AFKs in my promos a couple of times. What's the point of an individual skill ranking if it doesn't actually measure individual skill and can be so far off of what the skill actually is because of this long list of provisos and exceptions?

The questions I want to answer are "how good am I at league of legends and how much am I improving over time?"

Riot doesn't have a system that can answer that for me, aside from grinding such a high quantity of games over a season that all of the exceptions and provisos and silly reasons why MMR and rank can be worlds away from each other eventually cancel out.

Can I rely on my position after placements? No, because that will place you anywhere from 1-2 leagues under where you were last season, automatically, even if you 10-0 those matches. My skill didn't magically decrease two entire leagues in the space of a week, guys.

Can I rely on my rank at any given time? No, because rank doesn't mean shit, MMR does, and those two things can be in completely different universes.

Can I rely my own MMR? No, because you don't get to see it, fuck you, that's why. (Or at least that's what it feels like from the answer Riot is giving me)

Can I rely on the average rank of the players I'm getting matched against? No, because we already established rank is meaningless, and the matchmaker does idiotic things like put challengers in plat games.

Can I rely on my LP gains after a win? No, because this is another opaque formula that might wind up with you jumping divs/leagues even if your gains are modest.

That's interesting. I think I'll go back over my win streaks to see if there is any pattern. It does seem like it's the case that the more I win the higher chance I have of getting I low win rate teammate.

And all he said is that it hasn't changed since last, that doesn't mean the didn't change it for the worse then.

I still think the match making is worse.

Example seasons 6,7, and 8? I was matched with whatever elo I was climbing in within a rank or two.

Once I made it to Silver 3? I rarely had Silver 4s. Almost every game it was even in terms of rank (and thus MMR).

Since S9 to date? I'm currently B3, and I consistently get I1 - I4s I'm my games. I think that shouldn't be the case.

Maybe that occasional I1 on a large win streak, but no I2-I4.
