Toxic Dota 2 Players Are Being Hit With 19 Year Bans - IGN

The bans are the result of an update to Dota 2's ranked matchmaking, which made clear that the game will now punish smurfing, role queue abuse, and those with low behaviour scores.

"In terms of our development focus moving forward, we are spending more of our time than usual focusing on matchmaking quality," reads a blog post introducing the update. "We believe that is the right call given how much opportunity there is to make the day-to-day experience better for all players."

Could we get some of that here? Riot pls!

Hey look at that, someone is finally realizing that good matchmaking is key to player (and recurring profit) retention! Good for them! I hope they have a great fiscal year!

ide take an explained set of 19 year punishments over random and arbitrary perma bans any day

If they made it so you couldn't smurf in this game high elo would effectively die because nobody would want to climb.

For reference, imagine after two months of play you have to play at exclusively X hours, and only get to play 1 game ((and decay at the same time)) a week because the queue times are 30+ minutes. Best part? You just got target banned and can't dodge because of the time wasted.

I really question if this decision is good for Dota 2, considering that by this point, their playerbase is almost all smurfs.

ROLE QUEUE ABUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

remember when a fucking rioter ON THE BOARDS said a few years ago "and with the role system we have a perfect reason to punish those that try to steal others roles"

ofc that never happened but dota does it. i dont get why riot literally copy pastes everything from other games BUT NOT THE GOOD STUFF! oh right... cause that would require actual effort...

A rioter (I don't remember which one) tweeted that a majority of their focus for this preseason is going to be about improving the quality of matchmaking.

Oh .. did DOTA2 not have permabans for people whom were shown to be consistently toxic before?
