One thing that sucks about Malzahar

You can only play him mid.

Compared to Annie and Vel'Koz, Malzahar can't support because he's just TOO slow and has no utility to save his dear life.

At times you can play him Top when it's champions like but in most cases, NO.

Only thing that sucks about maining him :(

Ummm I main Malzahar jg and I play him top more than mid...

If you want I'll share builds but trust me he's more flexible than you think.

I have T5 in him and get fed consistently in mid, so I get bored and go jg with him.

And this is all with AP Malz, AD Malz is even more effective sometimes.

I've played him top and bot semi often.

He can pretty safely farm and kite against juggernauts in top lane, which is nice. However, his immobility can make top lane a scary spot if the enemy jungler ganks a lot.

He can also clear the jungle pretty well, though his ganks are weak early and he is immobile. With Flash + Ult, jg Malzahar can very easily secure a kill for his teammate.

You have to keep in mind that Malzahar is pretty flexible when it comes to builds and can go AP, AD, or hybrid. He can also benefit from building somewhat tanky/bruiser since his ult locks himself down in fights and he is immobile making him vulnerable when squishy. You just need to experiment a bit more if you think APC mid is the only way to play Malzahar.

Malzahar was a decent support when paired with pre-rework Quinn. Silence + blind = polymorph - slow It played similarly to brand. You're basically a malz mid with 2 champs to hit and a sightstone He should be able to support an adc with a root fairly well (root + silence outside their auto range is basically a stun)
