I made a new account to experience League Of Legends all over again

As I was playing the young noob, I experienced the following IN GAME:

  • People who auto lock and call each other names
  • People who tell others they suck and should quit league of legends
  • People who threaten to report you for "feeding" when you're just trying to learn a champion fully.
  • A LOT of afkers and people who d.c because they got either bored or fed the enemy.
  • A lot of so called " smurfs from Diamond elo " who enjoy putting people down.

Outside of the game [Meaning the shop, EXP, and IP] I experienced the following:

  • Leveling takes long but its RIGHT for people who never played the game.
  • IP rewards are unfair and takes SUPER long to save up.
  • Runes and Rune pages are extremely pricey, it's hard to reach the rank requirements quickly due to pricey things.
  • Winning gives you x2 IP/EXP than losing but it's hard to win when you have AFK'ers and EXTREMELY rude people.

Conclusion:

Leveling and Saving is hell and people are dicks :l

When you smurf, your MMR shoots through the roof and you're quickly matched only against other smurfs. Many of these are people who were banned and are trying again, without reforming. This explains most of the above.

Agreed. I do think they could make improvements though, like removing summoner level in favor of champion mastery score.

Note that if you buy both the per-win XP boost and per-day XP boost at the same time (and then play a lot to make full use of it), it goes WAY faster.

  • IP rewards are unfair and takes SUPER long to save up.

Agreed.

  • Runes and Rune pages are extremely pricey, it's hard to reach the rank requirements quickly due to pricey things.

Agreed.

  • Winning gives you x2 IP/EXP than losing but it's hard to win when you have AFK'ers and EXTREMELY rude people.

More or less agreed.

Sometimes I'm tempted to make a smurf just to report every single toxic player I encounter, but then my report weight would go down and the whole thing would end up being counter-productive.

Silents42923 votes

Your reports wouldn't lose weight unless the person you reported was innocent.

Well, in that case...

Anyone got an idea for a new name?

Do puddinglax backwards... so xalgniddup because why not?

EroticDiscoHeat had his name changed due to it being inappropriate and ended up changing it to taeHosciD.

I suggest "4theReports"

I'm 420MCYOLOSWAG on my OCE account, so why not go for something similarly stupid?

You know, the weird thing is that I hardly even notice it anymore.

You were born in it, moulded by it. You never saw double digit ping until you were a man.

IronwallJackson1 votes

Heh.

Chicken4dinner1 votes

It was the same for me before OCE had a server, the game is so fluid that your brain just adapts to the delay

This whole genre is bad for newcomers, but League seems to introduce as many mechanics as possible to make it truly awful for someone trying to learn the game.

I'd show examples of the things I see in chat but I'm sure most know.

How does league introduce as many mechanics as possible, when Dota 2 has more going on?

Mechanics in the client, not within game.

Runes and masteries (especially the new keystone masteries, thunderlord's decree vs someone without any of the keystones just isn't fair) giving you a statistical disadvantage from the loading screen, tiny number of playable champs that changes every week so you may not have any champs you like in a given week, don't have time to learn one you do like before they're gone, and can't properly learn about other champs you've played against without watching the rotation for 4 months or longer, the long grind for xp and/or ip to rectify any of those problems...

The total lack of quality custom game settings, tutorials, useful in-game information, first party replays and bots, the completely neglected chat rooms where players could try to find advice or players of equal experience to enjoy the game with, the fact that even if they DID have a more experienced friend to play with, runes and masteries make playing against them come down to "well you have keystones and I don't so I lose the game regardless of how well I know it" and playing with them ends up being "i get wrecked by more experienced players matched at the average of our MMR and it's power hour for you so we just hope you can carry a 1v5"

It's really bad.

That's nice suggestions, hope Riot will see them.

You're only being matched with other smurfs, very few actual noobs. The system is designed to weed out smurfs like you from actual new players because it used to be way worse.

IP gains are still idiotic, but that's half of your issues explained.

JackRabbitSlimz5 votes

I just did the same thing recently and experienced exactly what you've described. If every new player goes through this I doubt there will be many sticking around for the abuse. I suggest more harsh penalties for rule breakers and toxic hateful people. Also, yes I think the prices could use a little adjustment as it took my over 150 games to save around 22,000 IP and it was gone in 2 rune pages with not even enough to purchase another cheap champion.

largefish5 votes

My level 12 account has gone 11 games in a row and counting with either a troll or afker on my team, 5 of which having 2 or more trolls/afkers. Lower levels are absolutely hellish, especially since I don't even have the option of trying out new champions due to the ridiculous ip costs and lack of masteries for jungling properly.

Opaque Puzzle3 votes

I did the same thing and then I realized, I got my ass carried to Silver and I actually belong in Bronze :p

ThatH1N13 votes

My biggest problem with it all is the IP gains. That shit is a scam to force you to buy RP to play new champs and buy IP boost for runes. Not to mention runes are the biggest scam/trap for new players. The first 2 tiers of runes are such a waste or both time/IP that at this point riot seems to be scamming new players by leaving them in the game.

Pretty much exactly it. This game is disgusting when looked at as a whole, but that is almost entirely because of the player base and how they treat others. For whatever reason this game has the most toxicity I have ever witnessed in one place.

Well okay? But pretty much no matter what happens 50% of the people who play will win (unless you don't count the afk as people then most likely more then 50% of people will win)

ChaosThief2 votes

Everyone plays to win, technically, just some people only want to win and not enjoy the game.

That would be my thought on it, anyway.

I feel like League should do what smite does. Have tutorials until you are level 5, level up rewards like free champ/god for a limited time, exp boosts and free favor/ip.

PalPlays2 votes

It basically teaches people to be toxic.

Once you buy them, they are bought, on my main account, I have nothing I can do with IP. I have like 80k or so, and I main ranked, so it doesn't come buy all to easy.

elon wątroba2 votes

I didn't have to make a smurf account to know that.

I run into kind people who enjoy the game and genuinely want to be helpful to others so rare, on either of my accounts, that its like finding a unicorn or a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow when i do. I want to call everyone i know and tell them about it, because its so outrageous, "Mom! You'll never guess what happened last night!!!! I had this guy in my game on LoL and he was like "dont worry about guys we win this" and "lol, i got rekt. top no flash" and i was like "yeah we can win" and they were like"yeah man lets do this, go team!" It was so unreal...I though i was dreaming."

When i run into toxic little snots...i be like "oh look...another little shit with an attitude hiding behind his monitor.......yay. [ MUTE ][slayer-jinx-unamused]

On ebay people who sell empty accounts have said without buying champions or anything with IP they only saved up to at least 22k - 31K LP which is NOT enough.

I wanted to buy an empty account but I didn't want to deal with the risk bans so I have to suffer the leveling and IP.

i did the math and i spent 80k ip on runes alone, i'm still paying for runes. proably over a 100k total ip if you include champions, 83 owned champions and maybe 4 or 5 of them were bought with rp.

I got reported for not playing mid Varus like a pr0, even though the support Morgana who filed it was performing worse than me the entire time. Very obnoxious too, was badmouthing me and some of the other teammates constantly over the course of 2 games. pls morg :^(

Elisza Kitsune1 votes

Yeah ik. This one game with an Udyr I had started flaming me for not going top when I said my support cant solo lane. Udyr could have went top but he kept saying we "needed" a jungle. He was doing worse than I was (Jinx mid with Thresh for my noobie friend. They were on rotation a few weeks back)

LunariarWarrior1 votes

I've done the leveling process to 30 multiple times. Currently on one of my accounts that's level 20 I have about 10k IP without buying any IP boosts. Just like ranked for the most part, assess your teammates you receive from matchmaking to decide whether or not to mute them, and just play with free to play champions.

Well nothing new here.

That is a very interesting way of self-torture.

I can only take the LoL community because I was playing in Russian MOBA communities (which are hell).

Yea I made another account didnt go so well. I asked others how to play champions i already know to play and people just give me bullshit and say im a troll -_-

I agree with the IP part. Takes forever. Also, it's a fortune if you haven't met bots yet. Maybe it's only in Europe servers, but once in a while you get a game with yourself and 9 bots. Nothing happens, boring games continue... Well, hopefully you will make it to level 30!

have an account in my country's server (br) got tired of playing there

When you create a smurf the system correlates and figures out who your main is based on your login credentials and point of access. Then after the game gives you your "rating" after you hit the required level for player matches, the system will automatically place you in a "rating" with other like minded people who think smurfing is in any way beneficial or fun.

That is why the "White Knights" of the Boards (AKA : player who do the same as you, "test" the "noob" experience) have shit experiences and then come complain on these boards about it.

System's working as intended, and if you were actually a brand new player chances are your game quality will be a little better. You'll still have feeders and dcers, afkers too. Because this is League of Legends, and it happens at all levels of play. :)
