There is too much misunderstanding about the Poppy changes

Lets really lay this one out so we can fully understand what's going on:

  • Riot is giving back 50% of the E nerf that forced Poppy out of the jungle when she was initially meant to be a top/jg champion on release.
  • Riot is making it so that snap-casting R doesn't fuck up your whole team's burst rotation on targets you caught with it.

To make room for these buffs:

  • Riot is making Poppy a bit slower.
  • Riot is shaving some MS and passive stats off of W.

Why are people complaining so much about the changes? Like, really asking, here. The major boon that Poppy's set to receive will make her significantly more usable as a champ in general, which is a huge part of Poppy's issues as a champ (she's super fucking niche and you can easily pick Shen or Galio for a Warden pick over her). If you're giving all that, you need to shave power off so she's not blatantly op when they make the change. You guys remember how Riot reverted Jinx's Pow-Pow nerf, but shaved her base AD in the process? Same thing here. They're giving Poppy things that'll make her way more usable, but to do this without overpowering her in a single patch, they're taking out some of the background stuff that doesn't feel too bad to have removed. People that are complaining about it need to realize just how much you stand to gain from Poppy now having a full-on aoe knock-up and increased E dash range so you don't have to W all the time just to get in range.

Too bad because that .25 seconds they took off of her ult cc made it so she can never use it in 1v1's to re-position herself for a wall stun again.

Even then poppy is a trash champ to be using for engages, if your team needed engage you could have picked maokai, ornn, malphite and any other top laner who would fulfill that role 10x better than poppy ever will.

Poppy's a team fighter, not some 1v1 fighter. The point is that this helps Poppy's mid/late game plan for a small cut into her solo play.

And Poppy's mainly a defensive tank, anyway. It's less about making her R some super good engage option and more making her R not counter-intuitive to use in a team fight.

If they don't nerf poppy's movement speed she would be op she would in my opinion have one of the most op disengages in the game. the passive buff could be used as a disengage with her w assuming you have an item that slows them. Without the nerfs, against a Riven, poppy would have a 100% win rate. Also they already changed the w passive nerf from 8% to 10%. Riot looked a the nerfs they gave here a realized that they were too much. when the pbe for patch 8.9 first came out I did not like the poppy change but it is amazing now.
