5 Man Dynamic Queues does NOT mean elo boosting

Definition of Elo-Boosting: “Elo-boosting” is the repetitive and intentional act of an individual playing on someone else's account (a “client”) for the purpose of artificially improving the client's Elo rating.

So I've seen like 300 posts about how people are "being boosted into diamond by dynamic queue when they were silver" But in actuality thats not boosting. If you are playing on your account you're not being boosted. I understand people get annoyed that these people are being ranked in places they shouldn't be, but they're not getting boosted. Theyre getting carried.

You're getting caught up in semantics.

The word ELO boosting is the illegal boosting of your ELO. The cases you are reading about are people saying that a low rank player is paying a higher rank player to queue with them with the sole intention of that player winning games for them. In this case, it is ELO boosting.

It is not ELO boosting, however, if you happen to have a friend of a higher rank that is queueing with you because you like playing together. It's the payment and intention of intentional ranking illegally that is the problem.

So what you're saying is... You're a grammar Nazi and can't stand if somebody uses the wrong term even though its essentially the same thing if you change it just a little bit?

Elo boosting on someone's account =/= Elo boosting in Dynamic Queue We get it. Its still elo boosting though even if not according to the current definition, because the term was made before Dynamic Queue was added.

If someone was silver and got "carried to plat" they are fine in plat, not everyone is a game changing carrier. My guess is the people are good at a specific role that fits well into premades. ie.

  1. very good initiating support, at lower elos people like to watch the 5 man galio, malphite, braum, morg, and nunu ults then berate the support for doing something that should be an honest to goodness fight winner.
  2. good vision control jgers like nunu often stay at lower elos when they get placed there due to their vision not making an impact when nobody watches the mini.
  3. Tank players suffer the same fate as initiating supports unfortunately (rusty after a year off before coming back, but this was my problem a few seasons ago.)

Overall, there are a lot of people especially in real role-playing positions that are sooooo much better when playing with other good people. The best honest to goodness support players have a hard time crawling from the dredges of bronze and silver. Its been a common theme on the forums for years now. "support player looking for good adc". Having a real "team style" of playing kills peoples rankings in yoloqueue and always will, because that good support/low damage jg/etc will never be able to overpower the wave of bad leagueing on their own.

note: what slayer said is also true and does happen, that's different, but if the person holds their own once theyre up there, they deserve it.
