Why has my ping gotten progressively worse since I've started to play this game?

I'm not some OG to league as this will be my second full season, started midway into Season 3, but when I was loading up a game today, I noticed how bad the ping has gotten. When I first played, it was 110, solid, but surely nothing to write home about. Since then, for some unknown reason, throughout various patches my ping has steadily risen. Now I'm generally playing at at least 130, sometimes 145.

Now I'm not expecting miracles as I don't have amazing internet compared to some major cities, #countrylife, but I do have the best internet available in my area. It's not just me either. Friends of mine who started roughly around the same time as I did have noticed similar issues, ranging from a 20 to 30 ping jump. To me this seems a bit ridiculous. So I guess what I'm getting at is what is realistically being done to lower the ping for players, especially those on the East Coast? I know I've heard about supposed East Coast servers, centralized servers, ect since I've started playing this game, but that's been roughly 2 years and nothings come of it as of yet.
