Make Everything After Platinum 5 Max Duo

Gold doesn't have much prestige anyway so I think it's not too horrible to let DQ distort the ladder by clumping everything from solo to 5s in one ranking. However, Platinum and up is for more serious players and shouldn't allow premades beyond duos. This is where ranked starts to be taken seriously.

make everything past bronze 6 max duo. everyone has the right to enjoy the game the same way

Or they can just bring back solo Q , nice solution though.

Dominick Destine4 votes

This would be fantastic and I would accept it as a solution immediately.

Bronze is chaos anyway.... plat and above return to solo queue and we're golden (No pun intended).

Wimbledofy1 votes

y'know, it wasn't really a pun because plat isn't gold.

I agree, with one exception: gold should be limited to max of duo also. Maybe trio in order to make the transition smoother. While I agree with you that gold lacks the level of prestige found in plat, the fact is that plat players are very commonly dumped into gold following their provisionals. In fact, this is exactly what happened to me. I am currently hard stuck at gold 5 and I just can't seem to win games with any consistency. DQ only works for casual levels of ranked, which is Bronze and Silver. Gold is more or less the buffer region between casual and high elo, and should be treated as such.

Gold may lack the prestige, but many Gold players are on their way to Plat and shouldn't be treated like garbage. Sure, it doesn't take next-level skill to make Gold, but it does take a lot of work to climb out of the cesspool known as Silver. That's a feat that even some Season 5 Plat players have trouble with right now.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

This is literally what i said...

RISE Shlack1231 votes

No, if you actually read it it's different on key points: the amount of trouble it is to climb out of silver and how high-level Gold can be just as good or better than Plat 5.

I decided to play ranked this season and since i had no friends to play with, i went solo all the way. I was pretty tilted in placements and it was still February, so after a 4/10 i got placed in Bronze 1. But, i didnt give up. I knew i could reach way higher. So, i kept on going and after 2.5 months of SOLO climbing with above 60% winrate i reached plat 5. On the way towards plat, i noticed people got better and better in their game, so i expected plat to be the same.

A few games in plat and i was proven dead wrong. It's filled with premade parties with only one thing in mind, play as bad as ever and flame everyone outside your premade group. I expected people in plat to be better than gold and yet i meet people who play worse than silver. Needless to say, after reaching plat 4 my desire to continue playing ranked dwindled to the point of only making sure i do not go inactive.

I'm sure more people have the same feeling regarding ranked gameplay. A strict max duo policy from plat 5+ would be extremely beneficial to both deminish the amount of premades and slowly remove from that rank people that do not deserve to be there.

If they can't get people to like DQ for what it is, they'll try to bribe them into Riot's vision through more IP/rewards when using it. It's the ultimate "screw you, we know better what you want". Riot has proven themselves this year to be one of the most ignorant and arrogant companies I've ever seen. Almost every great company has a moment where they decide to just completely alienate their playerbase - even Blizzard did it with WoW. Riot is following the same pattern and it'll result in a slow death if course isn't reverted. After shoving DQ down our throats at the expense of a valid ranked system just to get more $$$ from casuals, Riot has lost a lot of the goodwill they accumulated over the years.

BTW: It feels Riot is trying harder and harder each year to hide someone's true skill. First the eliminated ELO and added promos, now DQ, what's next? As long as they think having a pure solo player and a pure 5s player one the SAME ladder is logical, it's obvious they don't care about ranked integrity. Those are not consistent experiences or skillsets.

LatetotheRace1 votes

Hurr durr, I dun climbed from bronze 1 to plat 5 full solo. I might as well be a damn god mate. So yea, I think riot could probably do with rewarding players for getting this far.

(Meanwhile you're still in bronze, k. Btw I'm not referring to OP, I did this as well.)

RISE Shlack1231 votes

Well, if you're Plat caliber, you'll make it there solo. That doesn't make you a god - people have done this for years before DynQ was released. You're not nearly as special as you think you are. I know I'm Gold trash, but I climbed from Bronze 4 to where I am now full solo as well. I don't talk like it's some sort of godlike feat - I just made it to where I belong.

LatetotheRace1 votes

Waiting for you in plat mate

RISE Shlack1231 votes

I'm trying :)

Zone of Endless2 votes

That doesn't even work. They removed premade 4 and 5 from diamond+ and that affected the pro/amateur pro because they can't practice 5v5.

Dynamic Q needs to be removed from the game completely as it brings nothing but trouble.

zecastar1 votes

This would definitely reduce some of the frustration. The players most annoyed by DQ's assault on the integrity of ranked are stronger. The top 10% or so tend to view it much more negatively than the majority of players who haven't really thought about it and probably don't even realize the difference between it and the new champion select.

Der Lindwurm1 votes

No. Fuck that. Make everything starting at bronze 5 max solo.

I hear a lot about how it's high level players who hate dynamic queue, but I don't think even duoing should be possible anymore after the absolutely horrible experiences I've had trying to climb my way up from bronze 4 as a solo player mostly thanks to toxic premades and players who have no idea what they're doing because they've been boosted way beyond their real ability level.

mogro00221 votes

I'm totally in favor of solo Q but it's pretty hilarious that you think it's a problem for a Bronze 4 that has to play with "boosted" players when the only rank below you is Bronze 5...

trust me, nobody boosts to bronze 4.

It was when I got to Bronze 2 that I began to really notice what how screwed up matchmaking was. There were some mismatches before that, but not on the regular basis as what I ran into a few brackets higher up. I had trouble getting from bronze 2 to bronze 1 because the SILVERS on my team were playing so poorly, often at a much lower level than the people I got matched with in bronze 4. It took 3 promo series for me to finally get to silver 5. By this time I was getting matched mostly with people who were already in silver and usually at least 2 of them had no idea what they were doing.

Real boosting isn't apparent in bronze, they're in there for a couple of days max, and then they're off to torment silver. You will not see any "boosters" left in bronze right now.

However, what you will see in bronze is one trick pony carries who have 0 map awareness, 0 warding capabilities, 0 teamwork, and 0 role/champion diversity. That's of course, why they're still in bronze.

RISE Shlack1231 votes

Default level of the worst of the worst is Bronze 5. You can't be boosted beyond your level if you're anywhere in Bronze. Hell, people can have a helluva provisional series and get placed Gold even when they aren't Gold caliber.

Your idea of solo only is fine. The rest is just...c'mon man.

Miss matching of games doesn't start happening until high gold/low plat on a bad day. There are tens of thousands of bronze players for riot to place you with.

Dude, why do you think only Plat and above deserves a fair queue? Max trio across the board and bring back Team Ranked 5v5. 'Nuff said.

I'm just trying to find a compromise since Riot doesn't want to kill their baby no matter how little sense it makes and what fundamental problems it has or how much time has been wasted on it to no avail. I still can't believe that a pure 5s player and a pure solo are on the same ladder and someone actually signed off on this being OK.

RISE Shlack1231 votes

Well, find a compromise that doesn't act like lower tiers aren't serious players. There are Plat players that get dumped into Gold after the season resets, and there are high-level Gold players trying to make it to Plat. Trying to find a compromise is fine and good as long as you treat all tiers equally. Everyone is capable of getting better and climbing.

DREADN0UGHT1 votes

Personally, I'm gold 2, and I take ranked play very seriously. Working to hit Plat before the end of the season. I don't think its fair to say anything below plat is not serious

jaymc11301 votes

We would still need to reinstate team ranked 5s if this were to happen. Its unacceptable to have no way for diamond level players to no longer play as a full team. The removal of ranked 5s was a horrendously short sighted idea.
