Mundo Nipple Range

I'm glad Mundo got some love but according to LeagueofGraphs, he's still only at ~48% in Plat and Diamond. I love his kit and don't think he needs a rework at all. He is a good platform to learn macro strategy since he can split push quite well with his E-reset and AD buff while also being a damage sponge and good in 1vs1s if they don't kite you. Basically, you have a lot of strategic options even if his kit is simple. In many ways, he reminds me of Singed and believe it or not, Riot considers Singed (no, not Azir or Yasuo!) the champion with the highest experience curve. Singed is even simpler than Mundo but has tremendous strategic complexity in exactly how you choose to pressure the map.

So what does Mundo need still? His AA range is only 125 and it looks like Mundo has to get so close that his nipples could punch you. He's a big guy and he deserves an AA range more in line with other melees. For reference, Nautilus, Sion, Darius, Kench & Garen have 175 AA range. Mundo's 125 range is a relic of the past and even if Riot doesn't want to give him 175, 150 is sorely needed if only for the animations to look more natural.

I couldn't NOT read this post with such a strange title lmao.

For what it is worth, I don't think you fully grasp how much power comes with 25 AA range, especially for melees.

yeah he will fucking skyrocket 60% winrate.

exaggeration ^2.

when they increased Trundle AA range his winrate jumped 6% according to op.gg

kile1473 votes

Which was because he suddenly became a viable counter to the champs he was supposed to counter. Before that range increase other juggernauts and some tanks could auto him over minion waves and he couldn't respond. By giving him the same range it put him on the same ground as them, which means he wins because he's Trundle.

Btw not disagreeing with you that Mundo might become OP, just explaining Trundle.

Mundo's E is one of the single most powerful abilities in the game...I seriously cannot think of a single other champion it would not be broken op on, apart from maybe some dedicated melee supports, and even then it might be enough to make their kits viable top. 25 range might be enough that his e would have to finally be butchered.

Actually now that you mention it, it might be cool on yasuo.

HEAR ME OUT.

Instead of his windwall, he could have a more offensive ability that turns his available flow into AD on activation, for a short period of time.

Immediately thought of the king when I saw that title.

How 'bout they make a nipple skin for Mundo in which he is shirtless but his nips are blown up to gigantic proportions?

This reminds me that I want to buy the Executioner skin but Riot won't let me! That feel when your champion's best skin is Legacy...

A nipple skin could be hilarious though. I'd make him raise his arms up like he's partying whenever moving and then he punches you with the huge nipples and pecs when auto attacking. His cleaver is a discoball, beer mug or subwoofer.

You mean, bondage fetish Mundo?

Virgin Ray8 votes

i thought you were talking about making his areola bigger, but ok then

oSEXYPLATYPUSo5 votes

he is a melee tank that has a ranged harass tool his Q and aoe damage and a ad steroid i dont really think he needs more range on autos...

TFBaam12 votes

hes a juggernaut, not a tank. srry but its the little things we need to keep in check

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

hmm well it dont matter ... i really dont.. he can scale with ap as well so lets call him a mage

crippler389 votes

he scales better with pen since his base damages are disgustingly high.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

lol thanks but my point is ... was it dont matter what the champ is classified as everyone sees mundo has an hp tank where he wanted to point out that he is a juggernaut

crippler3815 votes

TL;DR, Juggernaut and Tank are different play styles, not build paths.

Personally I see him as a juggernaut because juggernaut is a playstyle intended for the champion more than a buildpath.

Mundo like other juggernauts is a threat because of his damage since his cc is severely lacking unlike traditional tanks amirite?

Since Mundo can't scale with his Q at all (thing does a quarter of your hp anyway base so who cares) and his W has decent base damage but drains his hp and his E gives him more damage the lower %hp he has PLUS the ultimate, dude just scales better with hp.

Only reason I bring this up is I could build say Darius full on tanklord, no ad whatsoever, still wouldn't make him play like a tank. His peel is just a slow and a short range grab so he has no engage outside of walking riiiight up to someone, and barely any disengage because if he's focusing on peeling for the people who do damage it doesn't really matter because he can only stop one charge and he can't control the frontline pretty much at all.

I'm sure you know all of this but I'm a terrible person who likes to explain things to try and help those who see this but don't, and I'm a know it all who likes to feel smart even when he's wrong.

TL;DR, Juggernaut and Tank are playstyles, not build paths.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

mundo and darius too completely different type of champs and play styles mundo is meant to tank damage and soak it up being an unkillable hp meat shield

aka tank

Ralanr2 votes

Except he has no way to force or draw focus beyond being a damage threat.

AKA Juggernaut.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

but he dont build damage and damage isnt why you get mundo u get mundo to be an hp tank that is unable to die

Ralanr3 votes

He doesn't need to build damage. Just like Nasus.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

nasus dont build hp... he gets damage on stacks with his Q just like veigar stacks ap veigar dont need damage he could just stack his passive is veigar a juggernaut?

Ralanr4 votes

Nasus builds HP and resistances.

Mundo only offers being a wall of health and damage. Yes his damage isn't on the level of marksmen or assassins. He offers no utility, like what actual tanks offer.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

nasus typical build item 3078 item 3065 item 3110

mundo item 3068 item 3065 item 3083

bit of a difference

Ralanr4 votes

Beyond TF (which is pretty overtunned imo) they are both building tanky.

Mundo's damage scales with his HP.

Only the E and most of Mundo's damage is magic, not from e.

atomicwit2 votes

Mundo may want to build damage but there aren't good options. Something like Liandrys works on cleavers but all he has is a small AP ratio on one ability. If he builds AD, he has 0 AD scaling abilities besides his autos. Tank just make a lot more sense because the damage oriented items waste a lot of stats. I guess you can build some Mpen on Mundo but even that feels suboptimal. It would be kind of fun if cleavers had an AP ratio but I haven't considered the balance implications.

The best offensive item so far for Mundo is Wit's End. I would say Titanical Hydra but his basic attacks are too slow

I know Wit's End is tankier but does it actually do more damage than PD?

As a raw basic attack damage booster, PD should come out on top. But Wit's End lets you remove MR from your target, so all your abilities do more damage AND your allies will do more magic damage to that target. Not to mention Critical strike chance is a clunky stat if not stacked. I would take WE over PD any day on Mundo

crippler385 votes

just because he's beefy and hard to kill doesn't mean he'll provide any utility for his team, the way the game defines juggernauts is basically tanky damage dealers you can kite easily. Tanks got to peel or engage while being tanky, or to put in another way.

Juggernauts are tanks that do damage, their most efficient items tend to be less beefy but to make up for it they really hurt once they get into a fight, like darius.

Vanguards are tanks that are really strong at engaging, their reactionary cc is not as good but their ability to go ham and make someone stop moving so you can kill them is strong, like leona.

Sentinals are tanks that are good at peeling and securing your carry's survival, like taric for example.

Holy trinity of offensive utility, defensive utility, and damage dealers with low utility for tanks are these 3 subclasses.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

and there are tanks that are meant to soak damage... mundo dont have alot of damage not like he is building damage ... he goes item 3742 item 3068 item 3065 item 3083 item 3143 item 3111

crippler384 votes

tbh I don't think there's a single tank that doesn't soak damage.

also mundo's cleaver does a quarter of your hp how is that NOT A LOT OF DAMAGE?!

u wot m8.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

yet his Q slows when he hits you with it... form of CC

[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Ralanr6 votes

Soft CC and his only CC. Tanks have hard CC most of the time and a kit not built to do damage.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

mundo aoe damage thing if you get item 3116 would provide an aoe slow and make the slow on his Q stronger making him have good cc

Ralanr5 votes

It's still soft CC.

TeCoolMage10 votes

Actually juggernauts are a subclass and tanks are a class. I think you're referring to wardens.

They're both build paths and play styles. Juggernauts aren't even considered tanks anyway, they're fighters now.

but yes, you're right. Mundo is a juggernaut.

crippler382 votes

rekt.

TeCoolMage3 votes

That doesn't mean Mundo can't be played as a tank, however. He can build full tank and still be disruptive with low damage, especially with something like frozen mallet or rylai's crystal scepter.

Also they list Anivia as a disruptor but no burst mage as secondary so I'd take their tags with a pinch of salt.

TFBaam3 votes

they also labled mundo as a fighter/tank we arent talking about the client since riot themselves said it was wrong and will change in new client.

this is what u were looking for

TeCoolMage1 votes

Anivia's still not a burst mage secondary, my point still stands. Also, both pages I listed already have that information

crippler382 votes

I was talking about myself being rekt

Gosh Darn4 votes

I think the real problem is that he's a juggernaut with no AD ratios. Look at his builds, they're all extremely limiting and feature some of the weakest items in the game. Tank items have been nerfed to hell while juggernaut items are insanely strong at the moment. If he could at least get an AD ratio on his E, and maybe his Q, he might be more in line with other juggernauts without having to rework him. He doesn't have good CC, he doesn't scale with CDR, he's pretty much unofficially a juggernaut, even moreso than Nasus.
