Except that the argument of a teammate ignoring you blatantly disregards the issue of if you can get them to listen or not. I'm not the best shot caller, but probably 90% of why I was able to get into gold IV instead of being capped at gold V last season was being able to work with teammates, and being able to get them to work together. If you can't play in a way that secures the trust of your teammates, cannot adapt to them and realize "oh hey this guy isn't doing exactly what I say, how should I change my strategy and calls" (ie I've won games bc we had someone split pushing and I asked the rest of the team to invade jg and cut off the enemy once I secured vision w/ pink, sweeper, and raptor buff, so when enemy went to pick off the split pusher they got ambushed from brush bc they derped and didn't expect us to adjust), or cannot be polite enough to avoid arguing w/ a teammate (I've seen people not follow a call they know was right bc the person making it flamed them all game and they would rather just get the LP back next game than deal w/ the asshat on their team this game), well any of those is a legit deficiency in the "shot caller's" skill set.
At the end of the day I (and everyone else I've read here) am not saying that DQ or Solo Que or a perfect representation of skill. There will always be variance, even from game to game (ie playing on tilt or being tired one day and not tired another). However, the argument being made is that the variance is LESS in SQ than in DQ. If you don't get it at this point I'm probably never going to convince you or be able to explain it in a way you can. I just want to say that I'm not saying DQ is completely irrelevant and doesn't show any skill (even w/ 4 challenger smurfs on your team the average player will eventually start to hold them back bc the challengers will bring the MMR up, after enough games, such that the average player is so out matched the challengers are playing 4v5). What I am saying is that someone making good calls w/ randos has to convince their team to listen to them, have good social skills, and make good calls, but what is being tested is the same no matter who you are as a SQ player. There is no way to gain an edge over another player bc everyone deals w/ randoms so it's about your skill as a leader and if people want to follow you/how you adjust (or your ability to dominate lane if mechanics are your strength for instance). However, in DQ, there is more variance bc there is not only the influence of 1 player being measured over X many games (every game played the constant is the one solo player so their influence is being measured independently though a rough approximation). A DQ player could climb by being amazing at mechanics and dominating lane every game. They could climb by being a great shot caller and always telling the team where to be at the right time. They cold climb because they create good comps and have strong synergy with their team. However, they could also rely on strong laners to play only devourer jungles and just AFK farm w/ no jungle pressure at all bc the laners adjust to it, or play really weak early game champs (drawing a blank on what is strong currently bc it's late and I'm dumb, but stuff like vayne, nasus, GP, ryze, etc) knowing that they always have a jungle, top, AND support who focus on getting ADC or mid ahead and drop tp w/ a jungle gank (and support roam if it's mid) every time they can just to cover up a weak laning phase and make a weak early game not matter, or they could just be playing what the team tells them to and following someone else's calls (IE ali support or malphite top are pretty much always useful even if they are way behind bc their ults allow them to do their job w/out items, albeit then they are pretty much 100% ult reliant).
SQ and DQ both have errors. However, DQ measures the influence of a person, and up to 4 other players that they pick either bc they're friends and want to play together, or bc they cover up the other players' weaknesses. DQ has more variables you can control outside the game that influence success, and thus influence rating. A diamond DQ player is almost 100% going to be better than a silver SQ player (only chance they aren't is if they're boosted or legit terrible at one role they don't play or something and that's what you measure). The stuff people are saying to you isn't trying to discount that fact. What people are trying to point out, is that from a mathematics stand point it would be reasonable to assume less predictive validity of DQ rank than SQ rank. Basically, SQ rank has more limited ways you can influence the game, so perhaps SQ rank after X games can be said to be accurate to Rank + or - one division (IE if you take 100 silver II players who have played 50 games without going up more than 2 divisions, then they will almost all be competitive when matched against similarly screened, aka been there a while so mmr is somewhat stable, players from the bottom of silver III up to the top of silver I, but will win significantly more than lose when matched against players below silver III, and lose significantly more than they win if consistently placed against players above silver one), whereas DQ has more ways to influence the game, and thus the variance of skill between players at any given rank would be greater and maybe DQ would only be generally predictive to a Rank + or - two divisions instead of one. (A player who is gold IV and has been for a while would generally be winning as much as losing when matched against players between silver I and gold II, but it would depend on who was on line that day, whether they were in a group of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 players, if the players they picked out of who was online had overlapping main rolls (ie two mid/jg mains, an ADC and a Support, and the last person mains ADC/Mid, so there's no top main and someone fills it) so it would be less of a sure thing based on both how those variables were different that day for them and for their opponents) I'll leave it at that though bc I don't think I can make it any clearer, and beyond this it's most likely discussing ideology instead of a debatable point. If you believe that DQ is a better form of ranked (which I'd say, that in general, for casual players and people like me down in gold and not high elo it probably is even w/ a less accurate rank, I just don't like it) AND you believe that the best form of ranked has to have the highest predictive validity (personally I think if a player is below Diamond 1 this is less important bc it's not top tier play so less need to question if you're really that level of good for X rank), and you believe these things on an emotional level then nothing will change for you from me talking about it. You have to be open to the thought that DQ could have lower predictive validity than SQ, and I don't know where you fall on that line. Personally, I was open to the merits of DQ and I think at the end of the day my opinions since I first started discussing it in other threads have shifted (I didn't like it at all, but I think for low elo players like me it could be really good in general bc it allows for more approaches to playing ranked; although I still don't like it personally bc I want to play solo since my irl friends don't really play lol), but whether or not that is something that might happen for you I'll have to let you decide.
