And then continues the cycle until he finally lands a Q or stuns me with E then ults me for 1/5 my HP.
You can punish a Thresh, Blitz, or Naut if they miss their hook engages but Pyke? No, he gets to go invis and regen his HP back.
iiGazeii6 votesPyke's cooldowns are very long early on. You punish him for missing by bullying his ADC now that Pyke has no way to threaten you. If his ADC isn't healthy enough to go in, Pyke's ability to secure kills goes WAY down.
He also only regens a percentage of the damage he takes, not all of it. You can absolutely poke him, he just heals a portion of it back if he can get out. If he spends the mana to get out, that's a window where you know he hasn't left to roam and doesn't have his W to get close or escape.

NodirjonSattarov1 votesWhy do you like playing Pyke instead of Blitz/Naut/Thresh? Pyke's engage is less telegraphed than the former hook champions. His W gives him way too much power to roam and the little indicator is hardly a telegraph. If he lands his Q, he will and his E (unless the person playing Pyke is stupid). His Q CD is 2nd lowest out of the hook champions, only beaten by 2s by Naut but Naut doesn't have down scaling CDs. The cost (70) is also 2nd to Thresh (60mana).
What really bother's me is the flexibility of his E. He can use it to escape or stun people for 50 mana.
