VIktor at all viable?

I was thinking of taking up Viktor for ranked, is he at all viable? I heard he was nerfed since he could reach 1000 AP.

last change i saw time him was a buff to his sustained damage with a small nerf to his burst damage, still hits like a freight train though. his my main mid laner.

How would he build? I know he gets that Hextech core thing.

and I'm guessing I can just use my mage rune page for him? (9 Magic pen. runes, 9 seal runes, 9 CDR scaling, and 3 AP quints)

Change AP Quints for Move Speed.

ive got a slightly strange rune page i run on viktor, havent really looked too much into what i should change with the updates but i should probably do that at some point: 9x magic pen mark 5x armor seal 4x health seal 6x cdr/lvl glyph 3x ap/lvl glyph 3x flat ap quints

for item build i tend to rush hex core's second upgrade and then work into either a deathcap, zhonya's, or abyssal (matchup depending) hexcore max out between first and second item lichbane, ryliai's, void staff, ludens, all situational

rush first hex upgrade then buy a rylais. Massive threat in teamfights and skirmishes from that point on.

Please tell me the hextech core upgrades aren't like Kha'Zix's evolution mechanic, cause that thing is complicated.

They are a bit similar. But the upgrades for Viktor are more simple.

Q gives a movespeed boost when upgraded

W adds a vacum effect after the stun, similar to Diana's E

E fires a second mini laser afterwards.

ALWAYS augment the laser first. It adds alot of damage. Then Q or W depending on the situation. But don't buy the aditional augments right away, wait a bit before buying second augments unless you need to have one of those effects.

Its simple, just fork up 1 k gold and then it allows you to upgrade one of your basic abilities after buying it in the shop, also giving you a bit more ap and mana.

Always do the E death ray upgrade first, in my opinion you never have any reason not to.
