I've come to a simple conclusion about Jhin: he's got too much of everything. Okay, that's a little hyperbole, but you get the idea. He's got a lot going on in his kit and he's got it in spades.
Mobility? He's got the mobility from his passive. Then he gets
on top of that for more movespeed. Then he gets fleet footwork 40% of the time for even more mobility and some healing. Oh yeah, his W grants him MS as well.
Jhin gets mobility from his passive, sure. It's amplified when he builds attack speed.
Jhin's W ONLY grants him attack speed with "Caught out" : Jhin, Jhin's Lotus Traps and his allies mark enemy champions they hit.
In other words, Jhin will only get a movement speed buff if he W's a target marked.
AoE damage? Well his Q bounces off of up to 4 targets. His W hits everything in a line. His E is AoE. And he gets 4 chances to hit his ult, which is kind of a grey area.*
His W is one of the longest skillshots in the game, but it doesn't go through Champions. It does go through minions though.
"He gets 4 chance to hit his ult."
No. Jhin's Ultimate is 4 shots.
Let's say it like this : Jhin's Curtain Call is Jhin's auto but converted into long-ranged shots that deal additional damage with % missing health.
His 4rth shot crits just like his 4rth auto. Both of them deal bonus damage with % missing health.
Consider both of his 4rth shots executes.
CC? His W has a root on it.
It only roots if the opponent is marked. The mark lasts for 4 seconds.
His E is a stealth AoE slow.
His Lotus Trap is slow enough to detonate that you can get away from it. If you step on one, be prepared for a W to come your way, and perhaps Jhin will even Ult you since you took E + W damage.
His Ult has CC on it.
If by CC you mean slow, yea, it has CC on it. The slow is only deadly for you if Jhin's teammates are on your butt. If you're alone in Jhin's Curtain Call, the slow doesn't last long enough for you to be unable to dodge the other shots.
So you step on a lotus. Then he roots you with his W. Then he fires off his ult and slows you up to four times on top of that. Getting chain CCed sucks, but usually it takes multiple champs to pull it off. This champ can keep you CCed for quite awhile by himself.
The only hard CC Jhin can pull of is a root, and let me tell you that a Jhin W is hella hard to land. It's easy to dodge too.
I've played Jhin and against Jhin, so I know what I'm talking about.
Also, If you got hit by E + W + R, you're dead. If you're a squishy, that is.
Dodging Jhin's ult isn't the hardest thing in world except if he's litteraly american sniper.
I personally will walk in a direction, and as soon as I hear the shot fire, I walk the other way. Repeat until he's used all of his shots and you should be good.
Damage dealt? He's a top 10 damage dealer for ADCs. With crazy mobility and tons of utility. Ashe on the other hand has less mobility and does less damage.
Jhin is a late game monster, and his autos hurt like a truck.
However, he has to reload for 2 seconds every 4rth shot. He is really bad at melting tanks because of that. Fortunatly for him, instead of just being vulnerable once he has to reload, he gains mobility on crits.
Ashe has less damage because she builds attack speed. If Jhin builds attack speed, he builds damage. ( that'w why Hail of Blades works wonder on him )
However, if an Ashe and a Jhin were to do an "Auto Attack battle", I'm not sure Jhin would win.
I wasn't winning against a Xayah. She dealt so much damage because of her attack speed/crit build that I was just getting deleted.
Safety? Well thanks to his CC, his mobility, and his poke, he's the 3rd least likely ADC to die.
One can consider him safe, sure, but I think he'll never be. You need to hit something in order to gain movement speed bonus, and your opponent to be marked in order for your W to grant you bonus ms.
He gets really fast once he has 3-4 items but he still requires you to be immobile to deal damage.
A really mobile assassin will always have the upper hand over Jhin. His movement speed won't save him. ( it didn't save me )
I feel like his kit does too much and doesn't really have enough holes in it. If you want a relatively safe ADC who does a lot of damage, is mobile, and has lots of CC, h's your guy. I'm kind of surprised riot made this champ. Usually decent DDs need to be peeled for. While he's not the best in terms of damage, he's got a lot of self peel to make up for it. Riot doesn't usually put tons of damage on a champ with a lot of utility, but he's got better than average damage and a bunch of mobility. He also has a lot of tools for wave clear and it shows as he's in the top 1/3rd of ADCs (almost in the top quarter) in terms of being able to kill a lot of minions.
I feel like Jhin can do a little too much a little too well and that he doesn't have to make a lot of the trade-offs other champs need to.
What makes Jhin so good right now are two things :
and Hail of Blades. These two items synergises so well with him that now he's one of the top tiers ADC.
Jhin himself is fine.
I wouldn't put Jhin in the "very mobile" or even "mobile" champion pool because he can't pull of what mobile champion does.
For instance,
has 2 forms of mobility, her E and her R, which hold outplay potential.
Jhin? He just runs faster when his autos crit and when a W hits a marked enemy.
Jhin does bring utility with his root ( W ), but his Curtain Call is almost useless if it opens on Full Health enemies. It slows them, but doesn't deal a lot of damage, and Jhin is the one that deals massive damage, so who's there on the team to peel? Only the mid laner.
However, Jhin's Ultimate is great to secure/zone objectives, make picks and chase down the enemy team.
As Jhin, you never feel like you're safe. I never do.
An assassin can burst me down quickly enough I don't even have time to blink, and any hard CC is a death sentence if my team isn't there to protect me.
Mobility doesn't save you everytime. It helps, but it isn't your "free of fail" card.
At least, it's never been my case.
