Does anyone feel like battle ranks actually rewarding bad plays?

For example, i play as a jungler. I did literally every single jungle objective - enemies didn't had a single dragon, rift, or baron. I ganked, i got 20 less cs than mid and 40 less than adc. But since Leona backed off a lot, and i had to jump in to allow my adc do damage, i had 1 more deaths than kills. And i got a B- for this. In the same time Leona that was disengaging fights at first sign of trouble, leaving adc unprotected got S+ because she died only 2 times.

Because of this happens all the time, i have lots of keys but no chests at all, i can count all times i got at least S- on my fingers. I know that i would probably get it a lot more often if i would care less about what my team needs and pay more attention for the personal score, even if whole world around will burn, but i want to ask - is it really heatlhy to award this kind of behaviour in a team game? I had people who literally admitted in chat that they won't help me fight enemy jungler in my jungler because they don't want to take any risks affecting their ranks.

So, maybe giving chest for something else and keeping those ranks purely cosmetic would be a wiser choice?

Why are you comparing a Jungler to a Support? Why are you comparing different champions?

The ranks are based on performance by your Champion in your Role. That Leona Support was being compared to all other Leona Supports, not to you. If you're not getting S ranks then you're not playing top tier.

The grading system was a pretty big failure and riot has long since realized it isn't worth the time or effort. Just ignore the grades, they are meaningless.
