Everyone picks flash

When a lot of people using same thing - it's concidered ovepowered. For example, if some champion or rune will have 80%+ pick rate - it most likely will be removed or reworked. But, somehow, this rule never touched flash - a summoner spell that good, that it has over 90% pick rate. Why? Isn't there suposed to be variety of choice, instead of "pick flash or be behind"?

The thing is that flash has been mandatory since seasons and the whole game with all it's champions have been balanced around everyone taking it.

And it's fine like that imo, I like it when everyone has flash. We don't need to force variety on everything.

Not with Riot... They are a special company. With special ideas.

Ability to brainwash their fans in special ways.

It's the wors... ahem most special game design in history! They can't see things as unbalanced.

What's so great about disliking Flash recently?

The only problem Flash has isn't that most players pick it, the problem with Flash is that the entire game is balanced with Flash in mind. If you change Flash just because god forbid an immobile champion getting a way to deal with a hairy situation every so often you imbalance the entire game even further.

Flash is kind of a core part of the game at this point and alot of thinks are balanced around it.

Just because mobile champs pick it doesn't mean no one should be able to take it.

If Flash got removed/nerfed into the ground and unusable, then so should Exhaust, Ignite, Heal(?), and Teleport as those are the most common runes to find secondary.

But that wont happen, because SURPRISE! Not every champion makes use of Ghost, Celerity, Barrier, or Cleanse. Heck I usually only ever see Ghost on Singed and Hecarim, and I rarely see Barrier, Celerity, and Cleanse taken.

Just because a summoner spell seems op doesn't mean it is. Because honestly? Flash is one of the most fail summoners there is. Have you ever flashed into a wall rather than going to the other side while hugging it? Have you seen how many times people flash INTO skillshots? Or into the rest of the enemy team when running away?

As 'strong' as Flash is, it's also a very iffy summoner because as great as it is, it can also put you into even worse situations instead of helping you.

  1. Because it's not unique to a champion, as in everyone (with the exception of new accounts) can take it. On the contrary, you don't have to take it if you don't want to. Using Dark Harvest as an example, only certain champions could make it work. Supports shouldnt take it (they can, but it isnt ideal) and most tanks shouldnt either. Assassins still performed better with Electrocute in my opinion.
  2. It doesn't do damage. It is only used as an engage or an escape or to chase down an enemy. Again, using Dark Harvest, everyone took is because it was overpowered, as in the damage was ridiculous
  3. Nothing can change it except for item 3158 and the Cosmic Insight rune (unlike how Dark Harvest gets more damage with no cap to my knowledge)
  4. Not taking Flash doesn't necessarily mean that you will "be behind." You then have the option to take another Summoner spell, such as Ignite or Teleport or Exhaust. This gives you an advantage in place of your disadvantage.
  5. Compared to items, runes, etc. there are not very many options when picking Summoner Spells. One is bound to be picked more over the others. In this case, Flash
