Why do games with AFK/Disconnects still count in ranked games?

Reto, we been through this since season 1.

Lemmy help: (due to game behavior assuming you use SQL instead of postgres)

SELECT Summoners.Rift FROM Ranked WHERE Player < '10' DELETE *

or something.

You fill in the blanks.

Cause then losing players could just leave and it wouldn't count, they would have to do something creative for it to work out

The leaving player would still lose LP and likely get a temp ban. It would only take a day or two for people to realize it's not worth it.

Imagine if you had an ELO system where 5% of the games, the losing team didn't lose. They just had the game wiped for that team.

You'd have a broken ELO system. You know ELO isn't something Riot invented, right? It was created for chess? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system

Its used because it works really, really well. You don't f*** with such a system in the way you want.

how many times does the other chess player just get up and leave in the middle of the game tho?

Chess is also a one on one system. So, unless riot releases a 1v1 version of ranked then there is always the possibility of teammembers leaving, afking, trolling, which is honestly not riots fault that's down to the players. Riot cant just control every action every person does. They need a better system for punishing that, sure. I'm not even arguing that the mmr system does not work, because in my opinion you do eventually get the elo you work for. The only thing id like to see changed is promotional searies because it just sucks to win 7 in a row and be up for promotion only to have someone auto lock something like jungle ad bruiser veigar, afkers ect. Then losing your searies. I was placed in bronze this season and took 4 days to climb out. 4 days from b5-silver and half of that time was just redoing promos because of an afk or something. I maintained a 75% ish win rate in bronze and still had to do my promos to s5 twice (which took about 7 games, or 4 and a half hours) and my b3-2 searies twice due to a duo going afk halfway through because their mom told them to do chores. Once you hit 100 you should just get your next rank up as long as your MMR is equilivant to the next rank. Not your LP, your mmr. How you as an individual play. Should your MMR be lower than the next devision I wouldent mind it requiring a promotional searies. I was literally getting 45 lp / game due to my mmr and still had to do promotion searies and I diddnt skip in ranks either. Seems kind of broken to me.

dunno what game you are playing, but the ranking system in this game is one of the worst.

look up the bell curve post. If its not hella broken why are the majority of players in bronze/silver? If it wasn't such shit, the bulk of the player base would be right smack in the middle.
