How does Ornn's upgrade passive decide which item to upgrade?

How does Ornn upgrade passive work on allies? How does it choose which item to upgrade? Can I manually pick which one I want to upgrade?

It has a weird internal priority system as to which gets upgraded. Riot coded it somehow to pick the item, but never revealed to us how it’s picked. I once did it for a Veigar and he got Luden’s Pulse over Deathcrown. It’s either purchase order, item slot, or some other criteria Riot has never revealed. Maybe worth someone tweeting at Squad5

You don't pick manually that is for sure.

Last time I had an ornn and I had dcap+ludens at the time of upgrading my dcap was upgraded, I had it in the first slot just in case, don't know if it mattered or not.

i think we need a new board named (questions about gameplay) or something with votes disabled

anyway i only played ornn in aram but i recall i dont get to choose which to upgrade (it just tell me to click on allies to upgrade)

I've been experimenting in practice tool to figure his out, I had a full inventory of uprgadable items and every time it chose the 2 items in slot 1 and 2 no matter which items I bought first. I assume this is the same for teammates as well. If they have dcap and ludens but ludens is in slot 1 then that is what will be upgraded
