Why does Cassiopeia Miasma cast even when I'm not in range of where I click?

How come Miasma casts when I click somewhere outside of her W cast range, falling short of where I intended it to be, unlike her Q which moves you into position before casting? The same thing happens with her Ult.

(I use Quick + Self Cast)
